mechanic recommendation

Hi there,

I'm wondering where we should be taking our syncro when it comes time for a bit of love and
attention. I've had John Goodison at Volkshome in Thomastown recommended to me by a
friend who's a long-standing VW nut and it's over our side of town. He's described as being
good to deal with, very knowledgeable, thorough and not exorbitantly expensive. Can anyone
second the recommendation?

Thanks,

Francesca.

Hi Francesca,

John is a nice guy, and an active VWCV member, but I’ve never had work done by him. If it’s transmission work you need I can recommend Lloyd Davies (also an active VWCV member & enthusiast) at Volkwerke in Greensborough (9435 1868). He did my transmission early in my Syncro life, and it was perfect for the next 10 years until I sold it (and still is! I’d have heard if it was playing up). Cost on transmission rebuilds depends how far it is gone. Mine was $2000, but it can go as high as $6000. I can also recommend Boris at Volkscare (9729 9281) as a long time T3 enthusiast, but he is in Boronia.

Thanks, Brian. Good to have a range of options.
