If you are in NSW and require any changes to your vehicle to be engineered then DO NOT DELAY. I was advised as from 1/01/12 the number of items requiring engineering will be vastly increased and the costs are set to skyrocket due to a new certifying scheme being introduced in NSW only by RTA. Existing engineers need to reregister and comply with new requirements and RTA will be imposing new charges.

Would that include wheels ? What about other gimmicks like spare carriers, bullbars, s/s brake lines, engine upgrades, engine nos, et cetera. Hart

Hi Michael,
Sounds all very good, but they are going in for a soft start... wait for it, they might even becoming sub agents of the german TUV which rapidly is becoming a world standard. TUV stands for Technical Ueberwachungs Verein = Tech Watchdog Club . Those –independent- people check all road registered vehicles once a year. They are feared as nothing passes them. One wrong wheel nut and you are out. These days they do all electrical appliances plus all tech installations plus they sell their knowhow world wide.
Just another nail....
Btw our Council, in its wisdom, has in mind to cover our valley with a red high risk blanket. We live on the river as do thousands. 18 000 residents will lose the right to even paint the inside of their homes without approval, 4000 incl us will lose the right to exist . We are fighting tooth and nail for the right to live on our property. Handing in our submission (10 pages today).

Only things that require engineering approval (engine changes, seatbelt and seat changes etc....)Brakelines need to be tagged when made before u put them on....they don't require engineering as such but they need to be approved. Its one of the things they will try to get you for if you have a prang..I'm not sure how legal the O/S ones are, personally I wouldn't use them I'd get them made locally,at least there are no quality issues....
