mud spats

Happy new year all.
Been home for a couple of days now,completed a 1300 km round trip,freeway,off-road,beach driving etc,where I averaged 12.5l per 100km(23mpg).
Could expect to get a little better economy,if I wasnt fully loaded and stayed in the left lane, but when you can overtake, you might as well!

Had a great day with the midcoasters of 2012,leading the caravan to Harts,to compare vehicles and some lunch.

Unfortunatly,I damaged my already damaged sliding door more, earlier that week.
I also damaged the two mudspats on the n/s.
Not the flaps, the splats that bolt to the wheel arches.
Does anyone know if these are still available, from anywhere?
I would like to get a full set,I cant find them.
I cant even find the 16 inch guards,I know they are there(internet) somewhere.

Ben,

It's my understanding that VW Classic Parts have return these to production using original VW tooling and sold via VW dealerships T3 specialists.

I assume you mean 16" wheel arches when you wrote "16 inch guards" below.

Unfortunately, VW Classic Parts seem to have gone the secondary/aftermarket strategy on pricing. I recall buying the full six piece set of 16" arches from a VW dealer in California for US$479. Now they are in the US$1200+ range. At least you can still get them. I had some replicated in fiberglass before but installation was more challenging than the original urethane arches.

Thanks BenT and Greg,
Will have to repair the damaged and keep an eye out for a second hand set.
The wheel arches would be good if not so expensive.

Ben,

Why not ask your local VW dealership? I know most of them don't care to discuss T3's but sometimes one gets lucky.;-)

That's a novel idea! I've heard that VW dealers sometimes do have VW parts.

Sorry, just being sarcastic. Most owners just go out of there way to make a part that is more expensive and time consuming.
