That undercover arrangement last year took many months on and off of negotiation between various parties to pull off, so I'd say a snowballs chance in hell for 22/05/2011. I also understand other variant groups were totally jealous of our allocated space undercover and so I wouldn't be at all surprised if organisers have had to fend off other claimants this year for their turn at the same premium space. We probably opened for the organisers an unwanted pandoras box last year. It was splendid and unique but a one off accommodation. See if you can prove me wrong ok, I'd be happy to be.
Nearest alternative I suspect would be a group hug of beasts out in the carpark.
Given there has been no weekend away camping trip for Sydney region beasts this year, maybe this carpark group hug is all that's going to eventuate, so better be in it!
Depending upon what's happening here nearer to the time, I'll decide then, given mine is not a show pony.
I guess the convoy from Kariong is still happening, but with all the extended roadworks happening up there still, maybe a problem finding a suitable meet up place?
Cheers.

Hi All,
Just checking who is planning to come along to the NSW / Sydney
Nationals this year?
Also are you putting your vehicle in and if so can we get a Syncro
corale going again like last year?
Cheers,
Skot
I would agree - it needed Mark to organise this as he has contacts in the Nationals hierarchy which the rest of us do not so I see this wont happen.
My boss wants to put the syncro in the show so she will be on her way down early. I will be venturing down once the Princesses wake up and I have fed and dressed them. That will mean around 11:00am before I even get there in my old 71 bus.
Anyway, the car park is a possibility but not where all the action is.
Also I agree about Kariong - it will look like that for another 10 years the way they are going.
We will work something out. I was thinking about going into the area, saying I am entering the show then parking outside just next to the undercover area. I have done this before and you are still almost in the action and is much better than the outer car park.
Cheers,
Skot

Camping this time of year is not really pleasing as it tends to shrink testicles and make the kids complain even more - even though they really enjoyed the Bus Stop down in Narooma this year.
Anyway, timing wont allow me to do anything prior to the Nationals as I have to work - bugger!
Catch anyone who is interested there for a good chin wag.

The attitude of those decision makers I don't like very much and that's why the Port Mac Syncros will spend that weekend right on the beach at South West Rocks.
For the future I could envisage our Syncro Nationals somewhere where we can stay/camp (as for Kamper) overnight, maybe somewhere South of Sydney so as to include our Vic
contingent and every 2nd year together with Valla as for our Banana Benders friends to attend.

I haven't checked yet this year - can this be confirmed?? No Syncro / water-cooled Offroad (Ie Syncro/Tiguan/touareg/Golf Country) category?
Maybe we need to run our own Carpark Cup?
- Cleanest Syncro- Dirtiest Syncro- Most Accessorised Syncro- Least Accessorised Syncro
Think up some more categories and we should get a good turnout and everyone go home smiling :-)

Couldn't agree more with Hartmuts sentiments. If all we predominantly stoop to for syncro meets is attend general VW static shows, mostly for oldy beetles and kombis, stand around for 4 hours and then go home and repeat that year in and year out ad nauseum up and down the coast, maybe we all should have bought beetles and/or kombis. Where's the logic and sense of cameraderie/adventure in continuing that scenario?! Unleash the capabilities of our syncros ... leave those static displays behind please and realise the dream of ownership of our unique beasts. My 2 cents worth.Ken
