Thanks for the add to the forum.
I’m a long time air cooler with a 1960 bug on club plates. I had a 73 pop top Kombi for a short time before that.
I’ve recently aquired a 1990 Syncro that runs and drives but needs some parts and love before a roadworthy.
Before and after the 90km drive to her new home.
Almost made it all the way before the low oil preasure buzzer came on. Luckliy there is an after market oil preasure gauge so I could see it still had 40psi at cruise. Oil preasure seemed to fluctuate between idle and 2000rpm.
Service notes suggest she has freah 15w50 so I’ll try Penrite 20w60 classic
Yes that buzzer can scare the hell out if you when it goes off.
My 2wd did it and I had it checked by a mechanic for pressure before changing the buzzer of doom circuit board for a spare I had.
Never had it go off since and I changed nothing else…I was already using 20W 50 oil and the Mann oil filter so it shouldn’t have gone off (mine went off while under load going up a hill after hitting a bump). Mine tested strong oil pressure too.
Love your syncro by the way and enjoy the modification process - it never really ends…
Very cool panel van Leon! Hope you have fun with it. Nice to have the peace of mind with an additional oil pressure gauge. If the oil pressure is good, no need to go to a heavier weight oil.
Welcome to the club Leon, another Ex Telstra being saved - well done
I’m not far away from you, just 15min out west of Geelong. Have to organise a catch up someday.
Also if you need some spares let me know, and may have one or the other bits and pieces.
I wouldn’t be suprised if you’ve seen my primer grey 1960 bug getting about out west. I try to drive every 90 days a year of the club reg.
It gets out to Torquay often in summer.
