Hi all,
I’ve just joined this group, and this is my first post to introduce
myself and tell you about why I have joined. Collectively, it looks like
you have a lot of fantastic knowledge amongst you!
In fact, I’ve really joined on behalf of my parents. They are finally
parting with a Syncro they purchased new as a retirement present for
themselves (it replaced a 1974 VW T2 campervan!). They are no longer
really able to get out and about like they used to, so they have bought
a smaller car and I’ve taken on the task of finding a buyer. Having done
a bit of research and given that its a fairly special vehicle, this
group seems like the best place to find a buyer. At this stage, I
haven’t advertised it elsewhere.
Dad bought and registered it new in 1989 and it has been well looked
after (full service history) since then. It has very low kms (138 000km)
and a good body with no rust. Its only had light duties in the last few
years, but before that, its has been all around Australia, from the tip
of Cape York Peninsula, to Tasmania, WA north and south, not to mention
the odd trip to the Flinders Ranges and outback SA.
Anyway, back to the details of the Syncro. It has:
- rear diff lock + original viscous coupler
- original engine (with 138000km)
- air-conditioning (with updated compressor & plumbing)
- power steering
- Trakka conversion (done at purchase)
In addition, it has useful extras such as:
- a Codan 8528 HF transceiver with auto tune antenna.
- towbar
- auxillary 12v battery plus isolator
- fridge mechanism updated with a Danfoss unit
- a custom two jerry can holder which mounts on the towbar
- a removable windscreen stone guard
It still has the original 14” wheels (including 2 spares), but the tyres
do need replacing. However, on the bright side, that means if you want
to upgrade to 15” wheels, you won’t be throwing away a good set of tyres!
I’ve put a few photos on google picasa. Use the zoom function to see the
details:

We’re looking for offers above $24000. If you’re interested or would
like more info, get in touch either via this thread, directly by email
or by calling me on 0410 827 015 or (08) 7200 3969. The Syncro is at my
parents place in the inner southern suburbs of Adelaide (and I live
nearby). If you want to inspect it, Dad will be happy to give you any
details about its history that you require.
cheers,
Michael Sanders
