new member intro and yes, I am the USA German decoupler guy

Good morning,

I was copied an email by BenT a few days ago indicating that my decouplers were discussed on this list, and asked Les to let me join you to answer any questions there are.
Besides that, I travel to Australia about every one to two years as my sister and her husband and kids live in Canberra.
I have a T3 Westfalia here in the U.S. that is running an ej22. I am currently converting it to be a syncro and changing to ej25. In Australia we have currently a Toyota Landcruiser Camper sitting as a travel vehicle, but will be looking to change that out for a van in the next years.

Regarding the decouplers, afaik syncro services and I use the same supplier. However, looking at their picture, they may be using a different knob / control valve. I procure all my parts from the supplier that builds these, so anything that we can get original from VW is original.
Shipping to Australia runs US$40 plus insurance. I am happy to offer members of this group a special at an even US$1000 shipped to Australia. You will need to send me a core deposit of $250 on top of that though, which will be refunded as soon as I have the core back. I ask you to please keep turnaround times low. Please dont keep the core longer than three weeks. This install is easy, fast, and straightforward. These cores are hard to get for us too, and the fewer we resellers have in hand, the less we can sell in a given time. You have to assemble about 3-4 decouplers at a time to be efficient, and I dont have many more cores than that. Thats probably the reason why Syncro services asks for more than twice the core charge than I do.

Alternatively I can sell you kits and you machine your own cores. This will be US$850 plus 25 shipping if a few of you order together, which would make sense to get the machining done efficiently. I can provide a picture tutorial of the process.

Regarding that some of you had objections with my statement that the design is following the original VW design - the supplier we use has the VW machining drawings sitting there. They specify exactly how each cogwheel is to be cut, at what angles the teeth are to be sharpened for fastest engagement etc etc.

The ones I sell are vacuum activated just like your locker. The electrical connectors are already in your van if you have a locker, its just plugging it in. If you dont have lockers, I can special order a bowden activated one, however I recommend adding a proper vacuum system to your van.

I can also supply solid shafts, stainless locker actuator rods and sleeves, and stainless brackets for the rear locker actuators.

I am available by pmail at decouplers@gmail.com my skype name is fspeier and if you want to call from Australia its 0011-1-510-381-1567 but please note that I am GMT -8:00hrs, in California.
