New Members

When I set up this website, there was a lot going on in my life and
I never got around to fully exploring the functions available to the
site owner/administrator. I have recently done so and find that
there is a fuction whereby I can be automatically notified when
someone joins the list.

It has always been a concern to me that people have joined (and also
un-joined) without ever being recognized. Some of them no doubt
thought that it was all too anonymous to be of any value to them.
Now that I have discovered this function, I can at least welcome
each new list member and try to integrate them into the wider Syncro
community.

To make it more meaningful to incoming members, I would encourage
all of the existing members to fill in their profile and in
particular list where they live. It was my original intention to
make it easier for Syncro owners to get in touch with each other and
this is a very good way of doing it, so please bring your profiles
up to date.

The newest member is Stu King in Launceston and is propbably unique
in that he doesn't have a Syncro but wants one. Welcome, Stu, and I
hope that you find one soon.

The second newest member is Peter Kestel, a Syncro owner near
Bateman's Bay. Rick (NSW) was down there and got talking to him,
which is where Rick's plan for a get-together at Bateman's started
from. Welcome Peter and I hope that you get to meet a whole flock
of us in January 07.

Very keen to see your new DOKA toy Steve.

We have had overseas members since the first days of the group but we have just got one from Papua New Guinea, Steve Sims.

Steve has located a double cab with round headlights that he thinks was imported for use in the Army.  He is hunting for more details and will post some pics soon.

Hi guys,

thanks for the add. I am T3 enthusiast originally from Germany who now lives in Melbourne. I have owned 3 T3s so far, one of which I took half way across the globe from Germany to Nepal. Currently I own a T3 camper, but my dream is to have s Syncro Westfalia camper.

I am not in a hurry but if anyone has a Syncro for sale - either Westfalia, non-Westfalia camper, or one that can be converted please let me know.

Hey Marc,

Welcome on board!
Where about are you based in Melbourne?
I‘m in Melbourne too (St Kilda) and guess what, as well a German.
Not far off there is the Day of the Volkswagen out in Yarra Glen. There will be a few Syncro present this year.
Feel free to join the T3 crowd up there.

Cheers Arne

Hi Marc,

Owning a T3 camper is a very good thing - doesn't have to be a syncro.

Unlikely to find a Westy syncro here in Oz - they are very rare - but you may find a syncro camper with elevating roof that should keep you happy.

I'm sure you will enjoy your T3 regardless.

Cheers,

Scott

Dear Marc,

Do you want a Westfalia because you would like to keep it original or because it is a sensible camper conversion, primarily because of the pop top? If the latter is of interest to you, I can give you a lot of information. Syncro is definitely the way to go.

I am from South Africa and T3 left hand drive Syncro’s were built in South Africa. Although our market may be smaller it may still be worth your while. The exchange rate at present is about 10 South African rands for one of your dollars.

Feel free to contact me on my mail address below if this detailed discussion may not be of interest to most members.

Thank you Scott
Hi all .a quick intro from me :)
I bought my 1988 Syncro camper  4 years ago from the original owner who is German and  was nearly 80 years old .
He was a cabinet maker and boat builder so he had the Pop Top fitted then after consulting with various companies that were doing camper fitouts he decided he could do better ! So the interior is all Marine ply , with a custom timber  screen door and an extension for the bed which is on rollers ( he was 6ft5" ) and you open the rear tailgate about 2ft and it extends out but seals around the rear opening !

The VW engine needed a rebuild so i had Luke at Bayside install 2.5 Subaru engine

I live at Stanwell Park where hangliders fly

Old Bar 2018 was great and i may have met some of you there

thank you
Cheers

A local one for you.
Hi Craig,

Yes, I know your syncro and I was at Old Bar with you. You bailed early to go and watch the footy grand final I think.

It was an awesome weekend.

Love your syncro as for 1) - Its the same age as mine and 2) - It has such an interesting fit-out.

I have attached a couple of photos of it from Old Bar so folks know which syncro we are talking about.

Cheers,

Scott
