Oldest original motor and gearbox

Hi folks,

I'm just pondering what's the oldest ( kms ) original motor and gearbox out there. I'm at 305000 k's on a motor / clutch / gearbox that haven't been touched.
Statistically speaking, what are my chances of making it much further ?
Doesn't use any oil or water, runs well. Most all peripherals have been replaced. AFM, Starter motor, water pump, dizzy.

Just about to undertake another trip up north towing a tinny. It's a bit like russian roulette.
But that's what makes the trip an adventure.

Mark
Wow Mark,
You must service your T3 with respect. Well done. Stir up some Barra for me while youre up north and have a great holiday

Hi Mark,
The motor and box in my non syncro T3 are at 315000, box is a bit tight going into 2nd, but motor is charging! Added Xado to motor 5000 ago with very pleasing results. Quieter, smoother, more freely revving. Will be interesting to see long term effects. Will report back after next 300000 :-)

Dont remember if I already mentioned this but there was a guy on Aussie vee dubbers a while back that had a basically original donk with around 500000kms on the original donk with one cracked head replaced only. He had replaced the gearbox but only because he tows a car on a car trailer regularly.

They are tough old ducks - the high mileage ones seem to have the least problems for some strange reason.

This Samba add syncro is amazing - I didn't think it was possible to find one with less kms that Phill's but there you have it and it also looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor.

There is one around Sydney with less than 10,000kms. A deluxe window van.

No, mine's done around 58,000kms.

I know the person that owns the low klm syncro and I don't think that he would wan't too many to know about it. I have to respect his wishes.

It's a metallic gold syncro deluxe window van. I think that it's an '89.

With that mileage, it probably sits in a garage under a sheet and rarely
ever sees the light of day.

You must talk him into bringing it to the Nationals.

It's not registered.
That's not what I meant. I was trying to suggest that you were coveting it for your collection. Any way gold is no good to you.
What you NEED is a 16" blue sinka. There must be heaps of low miles ones of those around!!! Greg E

Yes please.
A sinka can't be a syncro because they are floatas but if Phil says Yes please they must be worth having. My campa has a kitchen sinka. Ford put out a ka which some thought was a sin. The French used to sell Simcas.  I can't thinka. OK I give up what's a sinka?

Well Rog you are obviously spending to much time on the net researching t5s and not enough time learning about all things syncro. A sinka is a single cab.  Greg E

A sinka can't be a syncro because they are floatas but if Phil says Yes please they must be worth having. My campa has a kitchen sinka. Ford put out a ka which some thought was a sin. The French used to sell Simcas.  I can't thinka. OK I give up what's a sinka?
