Part number for Ignition Switch on a Syncro

Hey Guys,

Yep still having ignition switch dramas, have had work stuff to attend
to though etc. Reading (i think it was about 97.2 or so) the bentleys
manual it says to get the ignition switch out you need to drill a hole
so you can take out the lock barrel first.

Ok so done that, its late and dark so haven't probed for too long but
not seeing how I can get the ignition switch out still and appears
different to the replacement one given to me by volksbahn. It doesn't
appear to have any little screws holding it in that I can see tonight.
Also it has one less splade coming off it than the replacement, and
is different colours.

Anyway, is there a specific ignition switch / part number for the
syncro? Also any tips on how to finish this job?

Thanks, Sam.
Hi Sam just checked ETKA for a 89  syncro and the part no shown is
111 905 865 L  hope this helps

Cheers Greg

Syncro is the same as 2WD, Golf, Passat etc.

Just plug it in and try it. Put a screwdriver in the slot to start it.

P.S. What was the price?

I think it was about $25. Will have another go after work tonight,
but the replacement does look a bit different to what i can see of the
one currently installed.

They're not PDF, you need the program.

Sam,

There is a website that has the full ETKA.  You have to register but it is free to use:

It's all there and you can log on at any time and use it.

Hi mate , you are doing the wrong thing to get ignition electrical switch out!!  You must remove steering wheel, cover around steering column, wiper and indicator switches(flat blade screws top),remove plastic sleeve on column, remove allen key headed bolt, then the WHOLE lock/ignition assembly comes upward, once removed you will see the phillips headed screw retaining the ignition switch............

Get the name you always wanted with the new y7mail email address.

Ha! Thanks for that. Yes had figured that out by late Tuesday night,
after having drilled hole etc. I wasn't going to write to the forums
to tell everyone my stupidity - read that manual twice before getting
out the power tools!! I saw 'steering lock', didn't realize it meant
the whole assembly, woops :) However, having a good yank at the
assembly to try to get it off it would not budge, I don't have the
correct puller or anything, and I can't imagine trying to get it back
on, so I have booked it in to the mechanic. Fortunately I can still
drive, just need a screwdriver to turn her on and off, highly secure!

Thanks again everyone for helping me out with this one. This is a
really good group, thanks for putting up with my at times lacking
mechanical expertise!!
