parts situation in down under?

Good morning every body,

what´s the parts situation for syncros in down under? Is it easy to get
spare parts (ex. vacuum-cylinder for diff break, engine parts for vw
and audi enginge, starter and alternators, etc)?

Where do you normaly buy the parts, or do you try to import them from
europe? How many syncros are there in down under?

Background-info:

As it looks like, we will take a downtime for 1 1/2 years and visit
australia. Therefor it is good to know how to get parts if necesary, or
what we should bring with us...

See you and thanks for your answers,

Dirk
Dirk,

Australia is known for innovation and improvisation.  This also applies to VW owners of all sorts and we are accustomed to drawing on whatever sources are available to us.  This applies particularly to the Syncro!!!!  Between us, we will always get required parts.

If you come to Australia, we Syncro owners are scattered around the entire continent and we will look after any Syncro visitors as best we can.

There are many very enthusiastic VW workshops around Australia, plus second hand parts businesses.  For recent experiences of German Syncro owners touring Australia, speak to Joachim and Jasmin.

Parts are only available in capital cities.
Some parts are in stock and others are ordered in (14 days)
If it is not in stock here you would be better to order from Germany.
Bring service items for your diesel as these may not be available
here. (filters etc.)
There are people all over Australia that will help you.
I have now had two German syncros stay with me.

Where in Germany are you?

Well, so i think i will fill up the oversea-container with needed stuff.

Some more information about us:

We have two syncros:

Mine is a 16" Syncro, engine is a 5-cylinder 2,0TD. The engine has 1996
ccm and now about 110 HP with a torque round about 220 NM@2000 Upm.

Corinna (my girl friend) is driving a 14" Syncro with a mechanical TDI-
engine.

I am 31 and Corinna ist 27. We both started our own syncro-parts
business here in germany about 1 year ago. Corinna is also working at
the kindergarten.

I will post some fotos in the next few days.

Have a nice day,

Dirk
Dirk,

as Les and Phill have already said:

please be assured you will get any possible help from the guys partaking the Syncro_T3_Australia newsgroup. This is what we experienced when travelling OZ. We could discuss things further over a beer if you liked....Just give us a ring...
