G´day to Australia!

My name is Arne and i´m a Syncro driver since more than 12 years. I had registered my self here in this group in 2008, but unfortunately i have forgotten my login to this mail account. So i haven´t had a look after this Froum for a while.
Since my first time in Australia in 2008/2009 i´m really impressed from your country and lifestyle - i have to come back to spent more time there. I´m working for a company which is world wide active, and since 2012 we have got a new branch in Ingleburn, southwest of Sydney. My boss asked couple of weeks ago if i would like to join the team down under - i hope yo can imagine my answer! So it looks like, i´ll come over in first or second quater 2015. The desicion is not made finally until now - but in the next 4-6 weeks it´ll be clear. Cross fingers!

For the "first" time in this group, i´ll have more a view form the back (more reading than typing).

Looking forward to catch up with Syncro drivers Down Under, hopefully erverything workes out like it sound´s in the moment.

Best regards from south west, the Black Forrest area in Germany,

Arne

Hi Arne,

Welcome to the Syncronutters Group of Australia.

We don't have many organised outings these days but they do happen occasionally. There are loads of places to test out your syncro here too.

Let us know where you are going to be based in Australia when it all becomes clear.

Cheers,

Skot

Hi to all!

Finally i did it, I'm now in Down Under since beginning of July. But as i have to travel a lot for business purpose, there wasn't really the time to sattle down and to get in touch personal with Syncro owners in Down Under. I just have seen Gregor (?) and Phil at the VW show in Williamtown VIC a couple of weeks ago.

@ Phil, i'll be in SYD at the 1st Oct. weekend, if it's possible I d'l like to come over for a visit.

Well, slowly I get all my stuff sorted out, found a place in St Kilda VIC to stay and to get a little bit better in touch with Melbourne, the area I will/should stay for my company within the next years (probably).

Some of you maybe have already notice my Syncro at the 30 year anniversary in Berlin, due Penny and Dave form NZ were there with it during their nice trip around Germany.
I thought about to bring my Syncro over to Australia, but this seems to be to difficult as it is not really set up get through customs/quarantine regulations without causing trouble. It is stored right now in a nice dry place for the future.
As i like to travel for private purpose as well in Australia, I'm thinking about to purchase a nice ride here. But i realized already, this gonna be difficult to get a nice Syncro for a reasonable price a could afford. But if somebody knows somebody how knows somebody else etc. who might have a good one for sale. I'm happy if you could pass this info to me.
Until this happens, I hope I'm able to catch up with at least some of you around the Melbourne area or wherever I'm around.

@Leighton, sorry that i didn't contact you before i left Germany, but the last weeks of departure were just a nightmare to me. There were too many stuff to get organize. But I'll travel from time to time between Germanz and Down Under, so if there is some favor I could bring to Australia, i would be happy to do this.
This offer is also for the other group members here.

Looking forward to get in touch with you soon, hopefully all,

cheers Arne

Hey Arne Welcome and I hope your visit here is all you could expect and look forward to catching up down the track,
I am in Queensland just north of Brisbane on the Sunshine coast and you are welcome here anytime,
I had such a great time in Germany a few years back and the generosity was fantastic so don't hesitate to visit so I can show you around this part of Aust

Over the twelve years that this group has been running, one of the biggest challenges has been to get new members to make themselves known, so much so that I have given up asking. This extensive post from Arne came as a pleasant surprise!!

It must also be noted that Peter Coe’s newsletters from Germany as he and Hartmut tracked thither and yon were not only a first but in a superb class of their own!

Arne, get yourself to the coming Day of the Volkswagen at Yarra Glen; this is the best possible way to meet members and examine their Syncros.

Les

Welcome Arne,

Great to hear you are coming to Australia.

Looking forward to seeing you around Oz somewhere at an event maybe?

Best of luck with the syncro hunt.

There was a good looking one in the latest VW Magazine Australia magazine which is a Trakka syncro camper.

Its been a while so it may have already sold?

I can dig up the number if you like.

Best regards,

Scott Pitcher

Hi Arne. Hartmut and I were in Berlin as you know and spent a bit of time with Brian and Penny. They talked about you and their trip around Germany. Great that you are in Australia. Hart and I live in Port Macquarie on the East about 400km north of Sydney. Please get in touch if you are heading this way.
Les. Thank you for your comments and I hope all the Syncro guys liked to read about our travels. When I get all my photos sorted I will get an album or two up on our site for people to see. Both the Berlin event and Busfest are incredible for any Syncro owner. Hart and I had a 34 hour trip home from Hamburg so we are a bit exhausted. But it was worth it. Great also catching up with Phil and Joanne in Europe. Paul Nevin would have arrived home on Sunday so he will be in recovery mode as well. Both cars are on the wharf in Hamburg awaiting a ship to bring them home.
Cheers from a very weary Peter from Port.

Hi Peter & Hartmut,
Welcome home! Hope you both recover in quick time.
Really loved the blog, it offered us an exilarating backseat ride from start to finish, is indeed a fabulous permanent record for all to reminisce and we will remain envious of your exploits. Congratulations and thank you to you both.
Cheers.

Looking forward to get in touch with you soon, hopefully all,

cheers Arne

Hey Greg,

sorry for that, next time i know ;)
I have been recently in Thornbury, checked the cheap Syncro which was for sale... Well, i crossed my fingers that it wouldn't be that worse like it was written in the ad. But unfortunately it was worse (for me) and to fix it would have tripple the price...

I'll try do go to the DOTVW meeting, even when I haven't got a Syncro till then. Date is noticed!

Cheers Arne
Hey Tom,

I'll definitely do this, coming over to the Dandenongs! I'll send you a massage before.

Cheers Arne

Hi Peter,

I followed your blog and got a bit home sick to be honest. I really wanted to join this trip around my home country and be at the meeting in Berlin. Maybe there'll be a "next time" - like always ;)
I'm so lucky that Penny and Dave were able to enjoy the ride and having a great time in Europe!

I'll have to go to Dangog soon, but it's still 3h drive to Port Macquarie. But some day i'll be there for sure!

Looking forward to see some more pictures from your trip and crossing finger your Syncros coming back to AUS without any problems.

@Scott, i have seen a Trakka one close to Sydney for sale for a really good price, but i never got a feedback. Still keep an eye on the market.

Cheers Arne
Hey Pete, unfortunately my boss lives in BNE and is looking after this area. But as it's a nice area for holiday i'll be there from time to time! I'll give you a buzz than!

Cheers Arne
Hey Bob, this would be great! I'll be in SYD first Oct. weekend! Maybe we can catch up than? I'll send you a mail with my number soon!

Cheers Arne
Hi Les,

date for the meeting at Yarra Glen is blocked, hopefully nothing unexpected will cross my plans! See you there!

Cheers Arne
