Rain water at feet

Hi All

Finding I'm getting a fair bit of rain water at both the driver and front passenger floor. I'm assuming this isn't meant to happen. Possibly coming through the air vents, or dodgy pop top possibly? Any ideas?

Thanks, Sam
Sam,

A faulty windshield seal or bad gasket from your antenna can cause these sort of leaks.

Sam,

I have a similar leak to a newly installed windscreen seal in my T2 bay window which I noticed only happens in torrential rain. But lately that seems to be the only type of rain we get.

Try my trick and don't drive when its raining.

My plan is to hose test the seal and try and locate the point of entry then get out the windscreen sealer (black soft stuff) and seal up the faults.

Cheers,
Skot

Sam, I also had that water leak. I resealed the wiper spindle mounts, washer jets and aerial mount. This completely stopped the leak. As for the falcon springs, I read that forum post and it was a guy raising a 2wd. I guess if you found lowered springs they might fit. I don't think he was sure what they were off but may be xb, xc, xd h/duty. May be you could convince Ben C to pull apart his muscle car and try it. Greg E

My springs are lowered(on the Falcon),not sure if this would be much of an advantage, but have heard of raising the front of T3 with a Falcon spring.I think it was from an XF(XB,XC,XD,XE,XF) are the same I believe.

I had trouble with my windscreen sealing after a new screen was installed mainly caused by dirt on the body side of the rubber flange. They pull out the old screen and then put the new on in without cleaning anything so any dirt or rubber debris on the edge stops it sitting flat. I used a rag dipped in metho wrapped around a thin piece of plastic and slid it around the edge carefully to avoid scratching or damaging anything and it solved the problem.

Hope that helps
Gary

Thanks everyone for their input on this and the interesting spring and spacer discussions.

Greg - when you say 'resealed', did you mean some sort of sealant or did you replace rubber gaskets? Any tips on removing / replacing all of said components? Part numbers to ask for?

Thanks! Sam

Hi Sam, The wipers are just a case of unbolting arm and mount and applying sealant between body and rubber. The wiper jets are a bit tricky, they have two tongues that clip them in place, safest to squeeze them together from behind. They may break being old and brittle, if so Just Kampers has them for about $7 with new seals. If you buy new they should not need sealer. Whilst you are doing the right one check the lower outer edge of the screen cavity for a rust hole. Don't forget the aerial. Greg E
