re: Free camping sites

All,

Travelling to and from north of Sydney to the Syncro 2011 Batemans Bay Tour in January, I'm curious to know if anyone knows of other top free campsites north of Batemans Bay?

For example, check this out, one I haven't yet tried ... goto: http://www.aroundoz.com/a_campsite_archive/may_2001_free_camping_kangaroo_valley.htm Looks quite tranquil, nice river setting and adjacent to the famous Kangaroo Valley locality.

The following I have already free camped to/from the inaugural Batemans Bay 2007 Syncro Tour ...

Camping right on the coast at Meroo Head in Termeil State Forest, halfway between Tabourie Lake & Bawley Point. It had NO facilities at all when I last stayed there in 2007 so I understand it was free, technically required pre-booking but didn't bother, no problem at all at the time. Camping is adjacent to beach and lake. Can be busy though so probably best on the return trip ... peak time would be over by then.

Also Bawley Point has a nice flat Council carpark, quiet and shady, adjacent to the reserve/beach with public toilets and town water. Nice spot, camped there several nights, sharing with just a couple of other small camper vans ... not a problem at all.

Also camped at Bendalong, Cudmirrah and Hyams Beach and within hinterland Morton National Park ... camped at Lake Yarrungah and Porters Creek Dam.Also camped at Werri Beach, Kiama and above Minnimurra Rainforest near Robertson.

So essentially I'm seeking as many new free camping opportunities to try in the same coastal and hinterland strip during January, ideally picturesque and away from the maddening crowd.

Any other known recommendations please would be much appreciated. TIA.

Cheers.

A very very quiet beautiful spot near Kangaroo Valley is Beehive Point. Access via the Bendeela Rd just north of KV. Bendeela Rd runs into Jacks Corner Rd then through some State Park. See image on link below. Not a good spot for pitching tents or taking caravans - hence perfect for Syncro Camping.

Mark,
Looks like its only you and I do free camping along the NSW southern coastal and hinterland strip.

That destination you gave might suit a syncro/kayaking tour sometime eh, if not only for the young, also the young at heart.

Cheers.
