re: Old Man Emu shocks at ARB 1 week SALE

Gday All,

I'm assuming this is for all ARB 4WD accessory stores, starting last
Monday through to this coming Sunday, they are having a sale, they're
offering 10% or more discount off regular pricing depending on product
line.

What I did learn was that the local ARB store did in fact have the
Syncro Old Man Emu shocks listed in their catalogue along with the
correct year model range and shock model numbers, they just didn't have
the pricing on hand.

Clearly anyone wanting OME shocks some time into the future, putting off
buying them will only lead to higher prices when you finally get around
to it, unless of course someone can swing a bulk order purchase.

I was quoted current pricing of $233 each for N38S front struts and $152
each for N37 rears. With a 10% current sale discount, a full set of four
struts comes out at $689.30. Look at it on the bright side, at least
that's cheaper than a set of 5 BFG AT 215 75 R15 tyres.

Not long ago, I finally bought a $55 plain black vinyl wheel cover from
ARB for my spare wheel. I saw it today for 30% off.

If you're into gadgets, there's a nifty ARB quick tyre deflator, handy
for sand driving. Looks a quality bit of kit normally $58, grab it for
$50 on sale. Anyway, it's at least worth a look if a store is nearby.
Never know what you might find.

Cheers.

Ken
Thank's Ken,
I've just picked up a spare set to put away. I think we need to start stocking up on parts like this, especially the fronts as they are a special for T3 syncros.

Be careful when buying them that you ask for 1989 model syncro shocks as their catalogues are wrong. If you ask for '91 model you will get T4 shocks.

Ken,

It looks like you are considering trying OME.  If you do, it would be particularly helpful to get a comparison report after you have had a chance to put them to test.  The price that you have uncovered actually looks quite good.

According to their ARB catalogue, the listed syncro shocks were for
vehicles up to and including 1990. I didn't check this but if what you
say is correct about the 1991 model listing, then I would expect the
shock model numbers would be different, which in itself should raise
alarm bells for prospective purchasers. I might double check this issue
anyway in their catalogue next time I'm back at the ARB store.

Les,

Like Phill, I'm planning to just hang on to the OME shocks for some
time. Whenever my present set of tyres finally need replacing, I'm going
to fit new BFG AT tyres and the OME shocks all at the same time. So
sorry, the comparison report may be some time off into the future.
