According to some American site the new ones are nearly $3K but apparently there are only two - both different sizes? I find that hard to believe.

They are similar to mobile phone batteries. You would have to find the details and what packs that they come in. You may need 4 of them or you may need 20 of them, I don't know the specifications. You would have to by them from a wreck as new ones would be worth more than your syncro.

Syncro enthusiast Paul Guzyk, recently from California now in Colorado, modifies Prius cars to run 100% on batteries. Pmail me if you want his contact info. Hate to post it on a public forum without his permission.

If you want some interesting solutions, you might want to google the contact info for Jan Tribulowski who is now in the business of building hybrids for BMW. He is a Syncro enthusiast as well and will likely be helpful. He is in Germany now after a two year stint here in California playing with twin-turbo petrol powertrains. I only have his personal email which may not be how he wants receive such inquiries.

I have managed to find a Varta battery that is a "Euro Special Fit" designed specifically for "Recreational Power". This one is rated @ 80A and according to the dimensions it will fit without the battery flap on.
 
My Traxide smart charger system is now fitted and the battery is on order.
 
Hopefully it will all work out fine.
 
We use powered sites when we go away so the battery will only have the driving burden. Should cope fine.
