RE: [Syncro_T3_Australia] Melbourne get together

Hi Everyone,
Am back from Outer Yakapakatania and all of Greg's Sundays would suit me. (Bit worried though about turning up on April Fool's Day -1st April and finding no one there just a notice saying "Got yer").  Edinburgh Gardens should again proved a good venue.
Les understand your sentiments which led you to consider disbanding the group but very very glad you decided to continue as the Patriach of Australian Syncros. Incidentally I'm retired from RMIT.
We can talk some more at our meeting about the proposed Tassie trip. I haven't gone cold on the idea but am awaiting an itinary from my brother of a 4WD group of mainly retirees  who went down there recently.
Hope to see many of you soon at the Edinburgh Gardens but in meantime am going to Sydney early March to have a serious talk to Trakka about their latest offerings.Alternatively I might just buy Greece for about the same money.
Cheers
Roger

Greg,

That’s a good start and I assume that Sundays would be best for most people.  Once we hear from Roger (he’s probably in Outer Yakapakatania at the moment), Francesca can start narrowing it down.

Sebastian,

Roger is with RMIT and spends a lot of his time overseas.  We should give you his address so that you can drive your Syncro past his from time to time to help prevent it getting too lonely.

Check out Kea Campers as well. Much better and much cheaper.

Hi there,

How would Sunday 25th March be for a get-together? Can't make it myself before then.

So far I think we have Les, Greg, Roger and my family likely to attend. I hope Sebastian can come too, of course. That's a good start, but we'd love to see anyone else from the Melbourne region who'd like to come. The venue is very convenient - it's a small carpark within Edinburgh Gardens with a fenced children's playground, picnic tables, toilet and BBQ adjacent. BYO Syncros and comestibles. I was going to propose 10am for a start time.

Regards,

Francesca.

I might come on my 2 wheel drive bicycle, it's not quite a syncro but I do like to have a chat...

Don't tell me you're going to bring your unicycle, Les! Nice and compact to fit into a Syncro, I guess. There's a skate park adjacent too, so there's be plenty of scope to show us some trick riding, guys.

My unicycle has one wheel and one wheel drive.  My penny farthing has two wheels and one wheel drive – the front wheel.  My mountain bike has two wheels and one wheel drive – the rear wheel.  My Syncro had four wheels and four wheel drive.  Gary tells us that his bicycle has two wheel drive, so both front and rear wheels are driven, which means he can probably climb brick walls with it.

I had better shut up.  This has been a very long and very stressful week!

Hi Les, it's not as mechanically exciting as it sounds. Front drive is by electric motor, rear by pedal power. It can carry 200kg on the rear rack though.

Mainly used for shopping and transporting my kids around the place, you can get 2 small boys on the back and they can wrestle each other at the same time.

Cheers

You can probably still get information from Greece. And a wiring diagram.

Yes but if you believe Greek warranties then you probably think Plato is a washing up liquid..
Phil did have  a look and drive of the Kea 2WD conversion after our DofTVW conversation but feel the Trackka is superior in design, technology and execution. But is it worth the considerable price premium? That's what I am going to Sydney to try to settle.  I hope I don't end up with a Kea car with a syncro conversion due to a breakdown in communication.

I'm right for the March 25 10am Edinburgh Garden get together. Perhaps the above can be an agenda item  along with the proposed Tassie trip between the snags and coffee. Am going to see John Cleese the night before so please excuse me if I come with a silly walk and have to return a dead parrot..

Hi Everyone,

I might be able to make the 25th, but I am getting married on the 31st and there are quite a few people from overseas coming to the wedding, so I might be too busy and all.

No earlier date possible? Maybe 3rd or 4th or 8th and 9th?

All the Best,

Seb(astian)

Sorry Seb you are just going to have to call off the wedding as I can't make the earlier dates.
Seriously all the best for the wedding and nuturing of your overseas guests but hope you can still squeeze in a brief visit on the 25th if that remains the consensus.
There's quite a bit of married expertise within the group which can help with such topics as the best way of  droping into the breakfast conversation that you were thinking of taking the syncro off to Cape York for a month without having to find out what its like to spend a night alone in your syncro outside your house.
Hope to meet you soon but if the 25th proves impossible perhaps a few of us locals can revert to a simple meet up for coffee and chat when you get back from your honeymoon.
Best wishes
Roger

Hi Everyone,

I might be able to make the 25th, but I am getting married on the 31st and there are quite a few people from overseas coming to the wedding, so I might be too busy and all.

No earlier date possible? Maybe 3rd or 4th or 8th and 9th?

All the Best,

Seb(astian)

But is it worth the considerable price premium? That's what I am going to Sydney to try to settle.  I hope I don't end up with a Kea car with a syncro conversion due to a breakdown in communication.
