My girlfriend is camping out at Newnes for the next 4 weeks on school camps so should get the inside scoop on the roads Thursday when she has mobile coverage again. Michael,
Newnes was the planned spot as apparently according to advice from some experts at the Nationals it is the best place to camp.
I am told there are several camping spots at Newnes and the best one is the furthest in.
Never been there so I don't really know.
Would you have a better spot?

Not really, the far Newnes camp ground is nice with the hills all around. Couple of toilets, and the river running by. You can camp the other side of the river bit not as much room for groups camping form memory. From there you can hike to the old mine or the glow worm tunnel.
