Re: [Syncro_T3_Australia] Re: Syncro to the cape "old telegraph track" 4/7 photos

These are photos of Rudi driving his twin diff locked Syncro across the Pascoe River on a diversion we took on the way to the Cape. The rest of us decided to double back the I think 160kms and go round the long way. Rudi is a very competent and mechanically aware driver of a well prepared van with 16" wheels and a/t tyres but I reckon he was close to the Syncro's limits as he scrambled for traction on the other side. I leave it for your judgement on whether you would have tackled it without any difflocks. It gave rise to that classic understatement by Rudi when he was stopped by a Landcruiser going the opposite way further up the track. Toyota driver " So you can get through this way to the main road?"  Rudi : "Well I had no trouble going through in the Kombi!". I would have loved to seen the Toyota driver's face when he was at the top of that track going down to the river.
Incidentally the Trakka T5 I have on order comes as standard with an electronic diff lock on the front axle and the mechanical rear diff. was a $1290 option. The 4 motion option was also a lot cheaper than our Syncro option but you don't get the granny gear and other upgrades that make the T3 unique. Will be interested how much more flexible the Mk4 Haldex system is which is said to allow solely front or solely rear or even solely 1 wheel to do the driving according to how the sensors assess the best source of traction.
Cheers

Every bit, if you're stuck in the bush somewhere without one.
