Ken, it is only a mileage thing just like on modern cars they have a service reminder. If you are that concerned just put a note in your diary when to change it.

I have never heard of gasping and belching because of an O2 sensor. It is just a fine adjustment for emissions. If you think that it may be faulty, just disconnect it. The car will run fine.
That's ok, no I'm not concerned at all about the absent OXY device, just
responding to Ralph's comment about it.
