Rear Bumper.

Hi everyone,

we are looking for a rear bumper which incorporates a tow hitch and step, if anyone has one or can make a suggestion it would be appreciated. At this stage, function is more important than form.

Roger and Christine.

Hi Roger,

There is a bloke in the blue Mountains NSW who has a Trakka style alloy step bar with a separate hayman reece tow bar.

See photo:

His name is John Christie.

Not sure if he is on here but he has an ex-telstra syncro?

I will chase his contact details if you want as I don't know him.

Cheers,

Skot

Hi Skot,
that would be great thanks, that looks like exactly the sort of set up we are after!
Roger

Hayman Reese is actually a non de plume.  The real name is Heath Robinson, he of the fantastic contraptions fame.   As an engineer, just about anything that Hayman Reese manufactures makes me wince!!

He said he wants $650 for the rear bumper, tow bar and an alloy bull bar but you may not want the front bull bar.?.

Tow bar is worth about $80-$100 and the bumper/step?? Maybe $250?.

Thats all I would pay anyway as they appear in very good condition...

His number is 0414 200 969. He also said: "if they could ring during day, Monday onwards, regards the bumper/tow bar for T3..."

Cheers,

Skot

That's awesome, thanks Skot! Yeah I'm only chasing the rear bumper/tow hitch. I'm guessing the aluminium step won't fit with the van's existing tow bar, is that correct? The tow bar has not changed since your dad had it.
Roger.
Not sure Roger.

It might but you may need to trim a little of the rear bar to make it fit.

Cheers,

Skot

Roger.

Sadly I had no luck with purchasing the rear bumper so if anyone comes across one in their travels please let me know.
Cheers,
Roger.
Hi Roger,

I have a standard rear bumpers and a rear tow-bar that I'm not using.

Let me know if you're interested and I'll send you some photos.

Ok Roger.

Shame that seemed like what you wanted.

Anyway we shall all keep an eye open for you.

Cheers,

Skot

No it's the bumper/step I'm chasing either the aluminium style one or the telstra style one. We need something which offers a bit more protection as well as providing a decent step for Christine to access the back.
Thanks all the same.
Roger.
Yes it was exactly what I wanted but he wasn't prepared to sell just the bumper, he wanted to sell the bullbar as well, which as you know I have adequately covered.
Thanks again,
Roger.
Yes that bloke did seem like an idiot

Oh well looks like he will have both his front and rear bars for a long time.

He seemed to have a syncro in the background too - thought he would be smarter than that then???

Cheers,

Skot

I would avoid the Telecom step bumper, it is way too heavy!
