Looks like you can get new ones €275. Does it cost that much to ship to OZ? Just wondering.

It would probably cost around $550-650. The freight from Germany to Australia is expensive. I think that it cost around $400 shipping from the US. That ends up to about $1200 for the Gary Lee rack.

USPS International Priority would not cost that much. That's the reason why our post office is bankrupt.;-)

I get shipments from Germany all the time. It's not much more expensive coming from there. It's the UK that is an issue for us. It works about double the cost of shipping the rest of Europe.

Steve,

Cool it, mate, cool it!

In Australia , we are all very aware that buying anything bulky from Europe (and sometimes from the US ) can double or triple the price.

What Phill bought would have included the freight.  What you are asking for it also reflects the freight.  It would be lovely to have a heap of manufacturers here but there is no way that they could be sustained by such a tiny population; we have to wear freight and we don’t have any choice.

Nice. I was quite up front with my question. No backroom dealing here not do I have any interest in such.

My point only being why is your price that much more than at Berndt Jaeger. I was trying to understand the pricing strategy. For all I know, your Ortec tyre carrier might have been a double instead of a single. In which case, it might have been bargain. These forums are intended to keep information flowing and not create an opportunity for any particular vendor.

I'm sure wouldn't be unhappy if I said something like "Oh these things are $2500 from vendor so & so."

Thank goodness, I have no need for THIS part.

As I said Ben, the Gary Lee rack cost me around $400 for shipping from the US. Gary shopped around for me and couldn't get a better deal. The Gary Lee rack is heavier but freight from Germany to Australia is 2 or 3 times the cost from the US.

Gary Lee rack $1200
Steve Muller rack $650

Yes the Gary Lee rack is better but do you still think that it is expensive at nearly half of the price.

You've got to understand Ben that things are more expensive in Australia than the USA due to freight costs. Check out the price of our new VWs compared to yours.

One can make their own decision about buying something overseas BUT for free advice and help I have found that the ALL the Muller boys very open for a talk, but there must be a bit of return via buying something or using their services, I think that in Sydney there are few on the ground that have their knowledge, if I am wrong please list who you know. bob

OK shipping costs ; I have just purchased a decoupler from the states the two most competitive suppliers were neck and neck .the difference was the shipping costs about $200-00 dollars , it cost me $109-00 to ship a nose cone to the US which included a surcharge of $9 for a terrorist inspection , I also paid a levee for$200-00 for loss in shipment, the cost to send it back to Australia was app $15 cheaper with insurance.
