Sagging drivers side door

Hi,

Just a quick question on sagging driver’s side doors.  I have this problem on both my syncro and windowed van.  What is the normal repair method? In both cases the spot welds have broken and the lower hinge has sunk back into the door.

Michael,

I had this problem (yet to a lesser degree) with my syncro.

My panel beater had this fantastic bar that fitted into the latch of
the body and the latch of the door and had enough leverage to lift
the door back to its required level. This did not seem to be a VW
item bust just a tool that most panel beaters would have.

However, you will also need some welding work done to keep the door
in the correct position by the sound of your problem.

By the way the massive weight and strength of the door set-up
managed to bend and almost completely destroy the bar he was using.
He was a very large fellar though.

Good luck with your repair - just check with your panel shop for the
required tools.

Cheers,

Scott
