Shift rod mounting boots

Hi all,
My rear shift rod mounting boot has given up the ghost.
As far as I can see in Bentley 34.2 the tensioning pin must be removed and the shift lever slides off the shift rod to fit the new boot. I cannot see how the tensioning pin can be removed.
Please advise if I am on the correct path or is there another way to fit the boot.
Regards
Philippe
Hi Philippe,
It is a mystery the first time.
Simply use a hammer and short metal pin or dowel slightly smaller in diameter than the spring pin you need to remove. Drive the spring pin UPWARDS and it gets shifted out of the way into the cast alloy selector lever above. Then recover it for use on re-assembly.
Cheers.
Ken
