Paul,
Replacing the sliding glass panel in a framed T3 side window is something I have not seen done,
but replacing a full framed unit is a magical thing to watch an expert do.
It takes about two minutes if you have matreials at hand.
You need a piece of waxed 2 mm venetian blind cord.
I seem to remember the last fellow who did it for me soaking the cord in INOX.
Silicon grease may be worth trying.
You put the cord under the bottom of the window, up the inside and over the top.
You put the rubber widow seal and the bottom cord in place over the window body metal at the bottom of the window with the cord hanging down over the top.
Holding the window in place you now pull the cord at the bottom left across the bottom and start up the left hand end.
Bring the top cord right and down to the bottom of the right hand end.
Finish pulling the left hand cord up the window, across the top and down the Right hand side.
Once the whole window frame is bedded in you can remove the cord.
Hope this helps.
O'Brien's price is horrifying.
If you want to talk about it, my mobile is 0417 411 493.
I might even have a scrap of 2 mm VB cord.
Peter

Hi all,
just wondering if anyone has replaced a piece of glass in a Caravelle sliding window?
Someone smashed my window while my van was parked on the street. No attempt to break in or steal anything, just vandalism. It's the sliding piece of glass that was broken.
I can get a complete used window for $100. At the moment the only people I've got a quote from who can definitely do it are O'Brien's and they say that the glass has to come from Germany so will take a few weeks and cost over $400 including fitting.
Most people seem closed for Christmas / New Year at the moment, so getting any information is proving difficult. Ideally if anyone knows of a place in the Sydney area that could cut a piece of glass to fit that would be perfect.
Thanks in advance,
Paul.
