Spare Wheel Carriers

I bought a "universal" wheel carrier from Opposite Lock 4wd accessories
and made it fit. This was about 10 years ago and the cost then was
around $400.It required accurate positioning so that the tail lights &
number plate were visible and so that the tailgate could clear the
tyre when opened.I am currently running 235 70 16 tyres & the tail
gate clears it by 5mm.I'm not sure if this product is still
available , but I'm confident that with slight mods many of the local
products would fit the t3 syncro.Hope this helps, cheers, Eddie

Good day volks,
In case Ken's carrier doesn't appeal and just to complete the record and offer yet another suggestion, I have added a photo of my campervan to the "rear spare wheel carrier" album. It illustrates both  bullbar and roof rack front mounted spares. I was on my way home from Perth having bought the camper there complete with 6 x 14" and 6 x 16" wheels to bring home to Melbourne. (2 on back,1 on bullbar, 1 on roof rack, 1 in front under floor carrier and 3 inside sleeping with me when I retyred for the night.)
Moral of the story is if you are carrying 8 spare wheels I'll guarantee you won't get 1 puncture.
Cheers
Roger
