Starter battey recommendations

Hi All,

Looks like I am in the market for a new starter battery. Any recommendations? Also appreciate if it's easy to purchase somewhere in Sydney. Are optima or others worth the extra $$ ? Or a super cheapy sufficient? This battery would be 98% just for starting, and a little bit of standard interior lights now with led globes. I do have an AGM house battery separated with a Ctek D250S dual which is used to power other lights fridge etc if camping.

Sam,

The standard start battery is all that you need.  You won’t any significant additional service from an Optima or similar to justify the extra money.  The CTEK is the perfect device for looking after the house battery.

Hi Sam,

Here is a list of batteries available that I compiled. DIN66L is the correct size. The better quality is roughly towards the top of the chart.

Online batteries will deliver or pick up from Panania. They are about the cheapest. See link at bottom of the page.

Phill, yes I know online batteries, I got my agm house battery from him, nice guy, best price I could find.

Les, yes I thought the Ctek D250s Dual would be just what I need, also take the solar input once I get some panels for Christmas. However, it overcharges my expensive house agm battery not switching to float voltage fast enough for my battery's specs. I am currently writing to ctek to see if there is any possible work around, apart from simply only having the d250s connected when I know my house battery is deeply discharged.
