Steering Rake bushes replacing..

Hello
Are there any tricks or gothas when replacing these?
I have a set of powerflex to replace the old ones a job for this weekend then rego next week.

Thanks
Peter

FYI,

I replaced the Power steering rake mounts in the weekend. Was a little harder than I thought as I didn't take in account the Power steering lines but with a little bit of help from a large screwdriver I was able to pull the rack back enough to get the Powerflex mount in from the back without disconnecting them.

Ticky bit was getting the old mounts out and what I did was make a hook up and was able to pull them out quite easily in the end. there was no way I could have pushed them out without removing the rack.

anyway here is a pic of the hook. and in the end very happy with the end result.

Ready for rego this week :) .

Great work! I'm trying to picture which mounts your taking about? Can't say I've noticed any movement in mine, but be good to know if there is something under there I should be looking at!

Hope the rego goes smoothly!

Richard

The mounts are where the rack bolts to the car... The bolts go through the bushes and when these get old the rack moves sideways. I got the mrs to turn the sterring wheel and the rack actually moved a good 5mm either side so a 10mm movement total. The old rubber ones were US and that hook I made up was to go through the centre of the old rubber mount and allowed me to pull it through the rack and out.

The power flex mounts removes virtually all noticable sideways action, tightening up the steering..

Thanks Richo, understand now! Must have a check on mine for the same thing!
