STEERING TRANSFER BOX

Hi there folks,

I'm not sure if I've called this part by the correct name. The gearbox that connects the steering wheel to the steering rack.

Basically I have steering that clacks a bit on corrugated roads and gives a clunk when I first turn the wheel after having been parked for a while.

Having recond the steering rack and checked all other parts, is this the likely culprit ?

Hope 2011 sees all Syncros running smoothly and inexpensively ( dreaming eh ! )

I'd be looking at the balljoints first. Did you replace them when you reconn'd the steering rack? PS or Manual?
Shock mounts second. Then other things after.

yep, ball joints, shocky tops, front drag link bushes, trailing arm bushes, dont be frightened to get a big bar in there to check for play!
i had a knock come from the sway bar, it had crushed its way thru the rubber and was touching the chassis, i replaced alot before i found that one! jon

I call it the 'V' steering box, but your term is correct.
I have barely ever heard of one bad one.
And never seen a problem with one myself, fwiw.
