Steering wheel shudder on hard turn after long drive (decoupled) ?

There's always something with my van.  Anyway, after a long drive on the highway (decoupled the entire trip), as I pull into my hotel (work trip, otherwise it would be a campsite!) doing a hard right turn at speed the steering wheel shuddered a bit and resisted turning.  A second hard turn did similar, though softer slower turns no problem.  Before I go moving all my bedding (for when I get to go camping this weekend) to get to the engine bay, any ideas of the first things to check?  I've never had any issues with my power steering to date, and the fluid level remained constant for many years so I haven't bothered to check it lately.

Thanks for any ideas, has anyone experienced similar symptoms?

Hi Sam, i would jack the front up and check the outer front cvs at full turn.

Thanks Hart.  Had a look in the engine bay and the power steering pump adjustment had simply let go and the belt was just hanging.  Just had to pull out a 13mm spanner (is every bolt on a syncro 13mm?!?) tighten up pump and belt and back in business fortunately.  Phew.
