Suspect Head Gasket 2.1 AMC

Hello group.

A friend of mine just bought a Dual Locking syncro off ebay.  The previous owner replaced everything from the radiator, blue cap,  to all hoses.  There is no water leaks visible before, during or after engine operation.  What happens is the car starts with a slight miss hap then idles fine.  2 minutes later its smoking out the exhaust with an oily steam smoke.  The car is getting warmer quicker then mine and is using a lot of water.

He wants to have it inspected by a VW mechanic but we just do not know who.. . .

Anyone have any advise on who we can get in the North Brisbane area for a quote on this engine (head gasket)? ? ?. . .

Or does anyone have a spare 2.1 running order lying around.

This engine also has done 318kms.

Gday Bartley,

Telephone Rudi of an evening say 7.45pm on Bribie Island who at least
may be able to point you in the right direction as to someone local who
is competant on 2.1 WBX motors. I'm uncertain whether he himself does
motor work, usually syncro drivetrain stuff, but no harm in asking him.

Cheers.

Ken

Thanks Ken.  I'm sure I seen his number a while back in the decoupler topic.

Try "Conti engines" on Bribie island. 0734083177. Rudi will probably
direct you there. Highly recommended. Bill.
