Sweeeet Caravelle for sale

1990 VOLKSWAGEN CARAVELLE T3 GL

Thanks Peter, That is a very sweet Caravelle indeed.  My friend is definitely looking for a camper with a pop top or high roof.  If he was handy mechanically he could possibly do the conversion. I will talk to him and show him your vehicle.  Regards Greg

Hey Greg sorry mate should have said its not mine just came across it and thought it might be of interest to our group

Peter

Looks very similar to Mark Kofal's previously owned syncro.

Definitely a 1 of a kind in Australia (or maybe 1 of 2?)

Cheers,

Skot

Mark Kofal's special syncro was slightly different:

No wheel arch shiny bits and stock wheels.

Hence, maybe there is two of them???

Cheers,

Skot

No worries Peter. Its still a very nice Syncro. Thanks for passing it on.  Greg

Would it be sacrilegious to cut a whole in the roof and fit a pop top?
For this vehicle - yes!

This extremely rare and very collectable VW Caravelle GL 4x4 SYNCRO is regretfully offered for sale. Undoubtably the best in Australia and possibly on...

Not Many Syncro Caravelles as once you added 4x4 a pop top twin diff locs etc a Ferrari was cheaper ? Not your average punters ride ?
Cheers Pete

Hi Peter,
Had a good look for any suspicious attachments to my  ’88 Tristar, haven’t found any… maybe the dimmible r/v mirror?
or could it be the courtesy light switch in the l/h door ?  Jjo

Magma was a concept only Doka and was released as the TriStar.
When you have a look at some of these you realise that the standard T3 was just the beginning ?

I know I asked Phil once, due to poor records of the importers (there were two depending on the year imported), there were no definite figures between models, but in short not a lot of caravelle's. I can't find the details off hand but there weren't many Syncro's.either (under 1500?)

Yes, I agree there are quite a few little things different to Mark's, so it could well be a second one. I had just bought my bus when his went on the market, would really have loved to get one like this instead of 'just' a GL

And yes, Marks, and this one are optioned up GL's, not Carat's. From the little I have read the factory never made the trim to for RHD bus's to be a Carat. I think Trakka??? made kits that were suitable for RHD bus's.

If you want to cut up a tintop, I'll do you a swap on this one for my GL :)

Beautiful machines, and low km's, wish it was in my driveway.

Richard

Richard,

From what I have read, there was only just over 2500 RHD syncros ever made.

That doesnt leave many for overseas RHD countries like the UK, Thailand etc..
