Syncro doka

Volkswagen T3 syncro double cab 2.1L | Cars, Vans & Utes | Gumtree Australia Adelaide Hills - Stirling | 1067320017

I got excited when I saw this for sale until I saw the price, now I just feel dirty. How do you spend 14k on a wbx?

Maybe he did the gearbox too?

Good chance oil change & coolant were included. Eddie.
You should get a free multivan with that price tag!

What do you think they are worth? As I just saw a SC Syncro sell for $4000

Single cabs are a problem as they only carry 3. Hence they are priced as a builders truck.

DOKA's can carry a family and still be a truck - hence the extra value.

They are worth as much as someone is willing to pay who really wants it.

This one is tricked up but it seems very pricey for that condition and kms.

Totally agree Scott. The reason everyone bought the dokas over the singles back in the day was that you could have your cake and eat it too. Which left the single cabs to be bought by vw fans that needed the longer tray, a very small minority. In twenty years when it is purely about collecting the tables may turn but for now whilst they are still practical trucks a doka is the prize.
I would give the guy 24k for a mint car that had been maintained like Phill's syncro with 50kms. Like wise if it had had a decent restoration it would be worth that. The problem is people think if they drop 14k into something it is worth 14k more. It just isn't the case. Say you bought this at his asking price, which means you have paid retail for an engine rebuild and the next week the engine throws a rod. There is no recourse for you. This is as much as $10k to expensive in my books. G

When you take into consideration that Baywindow vans a commonly
asking +$20.000.00 andused to be hard to give away
Splittys are up to $200.000.00 were left lying around unwanted until recently
You will remember these prices for Syncros as cheap not too long down the track.

Not many around now and all the European Kombis I've seen over there are rust buckets.

Probably the best performing Kombi rear engine ever made.

Try finding a Splitty or Bay 4x4 with power steering air conditioned twin cab with original paint then think what it might be worth???
Just an opinion and observation not necessarily Gospel.
If your half thinking of grabbing the twin cab?
My opinion is show some cash do a deal and go for it !!
There are not too many and don't think they will go down from here unless your very lucky or they need lots of work
Please note I have not seen this car so just an opinion on the type or know the owner

You are right Peter, that Splitty which sold on auction for US $ 195000 came to AD 237800.--
Also last year I turned down an offer for mine which was much much higher than what is asked for that interesting DOKA on offer. Also look at Go Westy , they are selling the Kampers for 60 to 70 ooo US. And that's Kampers not Doka's....

If your talking price you need to compare apples for apples. A concourse restoration on a split or even a fully restored t3 from gowesty has nothing to do with this sale. This is a 20+ year old car with rust that needs to be stripped to a bare shell and properly rebuilt with experience and the correct parts to be compared to those cars. I agree with you on two things Peter. They are the best kombi ever and if you want to own it take cash and make an offer.

Its worth noting that once you add the cost of a respray, you are now talking Amarok 4 Motion money with all the bits and bobs for camping thrown in..

Dont get me wrong this is one for the enthusiast tinkerer and or specialist investor.
Its worth what someone is willing to pay.
From an investment point of view the money is always made in the buying at the right price...
From an ownership perspective, we all tend to overcapitalise on these things, remember the words - sympathetic restoration?
Negotiate well and it looks like a fun vehicle to own!

When you take into consideration that Baywindow vans a commonly

I've got a tin top syncro caravelle camper conversion twin batteries, decoupler, diff lock, fridge, bed, audi brakes, lifted, 320kms that will be coming on the market soon. Lots of rust however. Any idea what it's worth ?
Runs very well.
