Syncro Driving Performance

Hi all, I have only had my Syncro for a month and find it a lot of fun
so far, have a couple of questions that only an owner can answer.
1:- at 100k's I hear a bit of a winge from the transmission, not a real
serious on but it.s constant, is this normal ?.
2:- Prior to delivery I had a wheel alignmment carried out by expert,
car still pulls constantly to the left, again is this normal for these
cars.?

No, find another "expert."
Greg,

The short answer is no and no.

First, get yourself a copy of Bentleys, the official manual.  It will cost you a packet, and this packet is absolutely nothing compared to what it can cost you if you don't have it.

Second, where do you live?  Meeting long term Syncro owners and getting them to look at and listen to your Syncro is the quickest path to sorting it out.  (List members are scattered far and wide and I set up this group so that new members can seek advice from experienced members.  Makes life with a Syncro a lot easier!)

Can't comment on the whine without hearing it, but can comment on the wheel alignment.  There is a specified procedure in Bentleys for wheel alignment and no average wheel alignment 'expert' would know where to start without it.  If you can't get a Bentleys immediately, contact me direct and I will email the correct procedure to you.

Hi Greg,

I got the Bentley's manual from http://www.van-cafe.com/ when they
were having a special and got a bunch of other goodies, like the
short-shift kit at the same time to save on postage.

Can't comment on the noise. You will have to meet up with some of the
experts on this site.

On that note, any members reading this post, any word on the 2008 get
together and any before then??

There was some posts on special procedures for the wheel alignment a
few months ago. I personally have not yet had one done as she has
been driving straight ever since i got her, probably should though
don't want someone to potentially make thinks worse given the special
procedures required.

Greg, Sam,

The recent correspondence centred around Page 44.3a in Bentleys, which is specific to Syncro front wheel alignment.

I suspect that earlier editions might not have had this page in it, because Derek Drew published the information for the benefit of many American owners.  So, if you come across reference to Derek Drew, it is the same information that now appears in Bentleys.  You have to have a copy of this in your hand when you go to any wheel alignment place.

Note that alignment places that use numbers programmed into their alignment machines DON'T have the Syncro numbers.  What they have is the 2WD T3.  Most such places will blithely say "they are exactly the same".  They aren't !!

Hi Greg.
this noise at 100k's.
Is it a whining sort of noise, that is constant at 100?
Also are the cv boots intact at rear? When was the last time they were
cleaned and re-greased?
I also have this noise at 100ks in T3 2wd but i also have a slight
vibration in clutch pedal pressure, at near top of upstroke i am
thinking it may be the throw out bearing.
