Hi all, just a heads up there is a tin top for sale on the trading post site. It looks pretty clean but not great photos. 1990 syncro $8500 in Sydney. I am looking for a camper but this might suit someones wish list. Greg
All,
Here's a new listing on Carsales.
Claims "diff locks" and "Four wheel disc brakes".
Les this would suit you, it sleeps not one but 2 adults on the mezzanine floor!!

Find out now. Link all your email accounts and social updates with Hotmail.
If that's !5,000 Australian dollars ..
that converts to  13,600 US dollars.

A sycnro Westy here, in North America is worth easily twice that,
if not even 3 or even as high as 4 times that amount, depending on upgrades.

I'd jump on that Syncro Westy ...if it is an actual Westphalia Camper Syncro Vanagon, as an investment.

they are not making anymore of these of course.

really.....in North America if that was going for under 14K USD ...people would be going nuts to get it, if it's at all in decent condition.

Scott,
This is Australia. There are no such things as Syncro Westy or Westphalia here. That's for your side of the planet.
The interior facilities of the camper are somewhat on the rudimentary and limited side but otherwise for rarity in Oz, the "diff locks" and "Four wheel disk brakes" are quite interesting. Maybe its a case of yet another misunderstanding of what these components are, as has happened on previous occasions. Its a worry for example when people say difflock when they mean VC and the CarSales check box info form may auto include reference to 4 wheel disk brakes.
Cheers.

Scott,

First off, there is no 'P' or 'H' in Westfalia. ;-)

Secondly, the camper in question is not a Westy. Non-factory campers do not command the astronomical prices that real Syncro Westies do regardless of how well the conversion was done --even here in the US.

Dash console with new 80 chanel U.H.F. radio,

BUT YOU ASK IS THERE MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well yes. It comes with another syncro.

Ex Telstra that was owned by a guy in the same town as me. I had regularly seen it driving when it had rego. , and i drove it home when i purched it. At the timethe problem that took it off the roadwas a very noisy water pump, that hadn’t leaked. I have taken and used the glycol catch tank for a few weeks till a new one came for the driver. Still off. The body is rough with scratches and minor dings. It has very good motor and gearbox. It was my “just in case car” but never needed it in a big way. It has air conditioning, and it comes with the Subaru liberty A.C. compressor, so could go into the driver car and be a good system.

Cares come with spares and used parts that come from owning 3 syncros over a 10 year period

Price $ 18,000

Sounds like a total bargain Brian.

Let me know if you or the new owner wants to part out the ex-telstra syncro.

Cheers,

Skot
