Syncro Hospital za

Has anyone here mail ordered parts from Syncro Hospital, South Africa?

http://www.syncrohospital.co.za/default.asp

Are they OK to deal with from Australia?

Phill,

This is owned by Stuart Stirling, who is a member of the SyncroSA group and Syncro_T3_Australia.  Stuart had a partner in the business, Gordon (can’t recall his second name) who visited Australia several years ago.  Unfortunately, cancer got him not long after.  Stuart is active on the SyncroSA list and I have not heard anything adverse.

The reorganization phase of the Syncro_T3_Australia group is completed and the membership list has been revised accordingly.  All non-respondents will be removed from the list in the next twenty-four hours.

As could have been expected, the people who have been the mainstay of this group over the years all responded early.  Interestingly, so did nearly all of our overseas members; in fact they were by far the highest percentage of the renewers in the first week.

The number of members has shrunk dramatically – just 58 people responded – but we are now assured that the remainder are the active and committed members, and we can all be assured that every member is a known, bona fide member.

One of the main reasons for the renewal and reorganization was driven by the traders who were making use of our group for free advertising to a captive market.  A requirement was introduced that they list themselves as traders and supply full address and contact details to be posted on the website so that all members could establish with whom they were dealing and have some confidence in their bona fides.

Not one has responded – NOT ONE!!

That speaks volumes!  Midnight spares anyone?

Now that all of this is complete, I will be putting together district lists so that members can see who lives near them.  It will also help members to find others with the same vehicle as they own.  This was one of the original intentions when I set this up five years ago.

There is also a desired protocol for posting and replying to messages posted in the Files which I ask all members to observe.

Thanks to all who stayed with us.  It has been a very interesting five years and look forward to the next five.

Les,

Thanks for including me back in - I was quiet for a while due to not getting the emails from the site, but I managed to sort that out a couple of weeks ago.

Thus, I will see more of you all and you may hear a little more from me as I am very interested in the various Syncro related things. I would say unless fuel runs out we will be all syncro nutters for many years to come.

I cant wait for my daughters to grow out of portable costs and prams so that we can do proper camping weekends.

Cheers and thanks for all your efforts Les.

thank you for your efforts to keep the List clean, but please keep
privacy etc. in mind when putting together lists etc. You now have a
lot of data, which is in certain aspects of sensible nature. None of
it should be available to Google... Do we agree on this? :)

Thanks again and see ya,

Hi Scott,

Does that ever happen??

I don’t know of course. I only have a son, and he still ‘costs’ a bit at 30.

Brian,

They both cost plenty - their mother sees to that. They are great fun though and I wouldn't trade them for anything.

But once the portable cot is gone - life will improve as the beer fridge can go back in the Syncro.

One thing you really need on a good camping trip is a cold beer.

Scott,

Unfortunately, Francesca was one of the hundred odd members who chose not to renew, so she won’t be answering this query.

When buying parts from overseas, I use direct bank transfer.  I used Pay Pal once in the past and got phishing email within thirty minutes of the transaction being made.  I notified Pay Pal and they didn’t want to know about it.  As far as I know, bank transfers are secure.

I think that the countries that you can bank transfer are very limited.

Does Syncro Hospital take Visa etc?

I purchased an end plate (part of the transmission case) from Syncro Hospital.  The SA  unit is stronger as it was developed for the T3 with the 5cyl Audi engine in SA.  Stuart Stirling was very helpful even shopped around for a good price. I paid via bank transfer – not as easy as PayPal but one visit to my bank and the transaction was completed. Get Stuart’s bank details – it’s a secure way of payment.

Thanks for those suggestions. I asked Stuart whether he could do a direct deposit and he said probably not but was planning to try with his mate in Australia.

I don't know about Visa though.

I will ask Stuart today. That is one way I hadn't thought of.

You should see Stuarts list of Big Boys toys - below is how he listed them to me:
1992 lhd 16" syncro -Reimo Camper with pop top.
1992 rhd 16' syncro Normal Caravelle C with oem spare carrier.
1990 Rhd syncro panel van, 2.1i and 15" wheels
1993 Rhd wbx6 3.2i syncro Caravelle, SA only Big window bus, 15" wheels
1989 Rhd syncro Microbus with toyota 2.2 td motor/ 15" wheels
1989 Rhd syncro Microbus with Golf 4 1.9 td and 120mm lift kit and 15"
wheels', my current play thing
1975 Bay walk through double cab with golf 2 1.9 td motor and 14" bullet
hole mags
1975 15 window split fleetline with 1600tp motor and  15"Lemmertz spritstar
rims
1967 split crewcab with 14" rostyles( SA sprints) and a 1500 motor.
1968 type 3 variant  1600 that has been converted into a pickup. MY Daily
driver.
1964 split crewcab  not running but complete.
1964 Styer Puch haflinger with 13" wheels and  650cc flat twin aircooled
motor all orig other than the paint.
And a 1975 beetle being restored for my girlfriend daughter.
as well as a 1961 beetle in parts.
And a VW Beetle Baja bug on a syncro 4wd chassis that we are busy building
for a plaything.
Very impressive - most people would be lucky to have that many VW's in their lifetime let alone all at once - imagine the difficulty choosing which one to drive each day.

Some have it tough!

Francesca,

How did you pay them for your items?

I have been trying to use Pay Pal with Stuart and South Africa don't have
that facility so he gave me his sisters Pay Pal address in the UK - but that
didn't work either?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott

Thanks Yurik.

I have asked him again for those details.

Cheers,

Scott

Scott

I purchased an end plate (part of the transmission case) from Syncro Hospital.  The SA  unit is stronger as it was developed for the T3 with the 5cyl Audi engine in SA.  Stuart Stirling was very helpful even shopped around for a good price. I paid via bank transfer – not as easy as PayPal but one visit to my bank and the transaction was completed. Get Stuart’s bank details – it’s a secure way of payment.

Hi Phil,

I ordered my crown wheel and pinion from there and they were great - helpful and reliable.

Phill,

This is owned by Stuart Stirling, who is a member of the SyncroSA group and Syncro_T3_Australia .  Stuart had a partner in the business, Gordon (can’t recall his second name) who visited Australia several years ago.  Unfortunately, cancer got him not long after.  Stuart is active on the SyncroSA list and I have not heard anything adverse.

Has anyone here mail ordered parts from Syncro Hospital, South Africa?

http://www.syncroho spital.co. za/default. asp

Are they OK to deal with from Australia?
