Syncro production in South Africa

Guys just a bit more info Stuart < Syncro Hospital > sent me about the SA syncros. Good man and passionate about these old buses.

I got the 88 blue and white dual diff lock from Mark that was posted on the forum not as bad as it looked anyway did some checking and thought I would share

all SA built syncro's chassis/vin no start with AAVZZZ25, then a letter, K or L or M or N then U and 6 digits, 25KU001234 will be sand blasted on the windows

german built buses have WVZZZ25ZNG0001234 as a chassis no lay out, that is the layout on my 16" lhd german syncro camper. it has a lhd only wiper panel, all the SA assembled syncro here have RHD only wiper panels, but my aircooled T3 doka has a lhd and rhd wiper panel,222

there were 1814 syncro's built in SA, a few in 88, over 1000 in 89, couple hundred in 90 and 91 each and 84 big window syncro buses in 92, no double cabs or single cabs, there were also a few special order panel van syncro built, but less than 10 from what we know.

the SA built syncros all have an SA only conlog immobiliser

Regards Pete SEQ
