Hello Brian
Congratulations on selling your 'old girl'. A new life and new
adventures for her. I sold my 'old girl' Miss Evie,an ex-Telstra win
dow van, but have unfortunately never quite got over selling her. I
now own a Kombi Beach which is very nice and also smooth and easy on
those long country miles that I tend to do. I certainly don't have
panic attacks like I had with the 'old girl' watching the fuel guage
dropping dramatically as she screamed along the Hume (100kph). But
there's something about that dak dak dak sound that's so
satisfying, unique and complete.I miss it.I have the Kombi Beach up for
sale on Car Sales and keeping my eye open at the same time for a T3,
nor necessarily a syncro,in no great hurry but watchful. The lads at
Volks Affair tell me that Miss Evie's new young owner brings her in
for her regular check up and that she's made regular appearances in
the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne as well as travelling up the
east coast of NSW looking for the right surf spots and the right gigs
to play at. (He's a muso). So she certainly is having a glorious
affair with her new partner, just the right life for a grand dame.
Brian , with regard to your T5 what kind of tyres are fitted. Mine are
some kind of Michelin commercial tyre that take a whopping 55 lbsi.
The ride seems hard and it transfers all of the road surface through
the vehicle. I have lowered the pressure by 8lbs which seems to make a
marginal difference. I believe the tyres are rated for a full
commercial load. I'm also thinking of fitting 'softer' shocks to allow
for more flex in cornering. Whats your thouights on all this.
Michael Rayner.
