Syncro T3's and other matters

Ok, you lot, please cool it.

Yes, this is a Syncro T3 site but we have members who do not actually own a Syncro.  I get membership applications from people who want to acquire one and I am happy to have them as members.  Brian has a Syncro T3; if he sells it, I am also happy for him to stay on the list.  Off-topics can sometimes be entertaining but I abhor the slanging matches that occur all too often on some of the US sites.  I hope it never happens on our Australian site and will be heavily jumped on if it does.

My personal liking of the Syncro T3 stems from its excellent chassis dynamics and its ability to go just about anywhere in great comfort and security.  (Since my name is not Sabine Schmitt, I preference stays with the basic rear engine / rear drive, as opposed to front engine / front drive.)  Add the Trakka conversion and the comfort extends to overnight stops with hot shower, gas cooking and a very comfortable bed.  I sleep upstairs in mine after having installed heavy duty, pull-out bed slats, using a self inflating mattress.

The T5 Trakkadu is getting towards the Winnebago end of the spectrum, so I will be interested to hear from Brian how it compares.  I would hope such comparison takes into account the 10:1 price differential.

For the benefit of newer members, the switch from open membership to needing approval to join the list was because of the increasing number of fraudulent members (spammers) that we were getting.  This is affecting groups around the world.  The US Subaruvanagon site was getting hit badly.  After I told the site owner that he could filter applications and what to look for, he switched to 'approval required' and stopped it dead.

So Les, do what you do best please and lay down the law ... last time I
looked, this forum is clearly named Syncro T3, very much in keeping with
the mission statement.

A glaring case of "off topic"?

Ken

.

It's all good, struth if u cant have a dig and a laugh then what's left???
Got nothing against the t4 t5 generation but like yourself i prefer
the rear wheel drive setup. And even if i were offered a t4 t5 i would
take it and sell it to buy more t3's.

I know Volkswagen has to move with the trends but i and many other T3
owners are dissapointed at the go with the flow approach.

Good luck to U Brian, i hope u enjoy.

Andrew
