Your camper VIN WV2zzz25zNG007850 was built in June 1992.
The build date and compliance plates are fitted in Australia and are useless.

Thanks Phil,
It will get its birthday cake earlier in the year than I thought.
Regarding your remarks on the accuracy of build date plates; there seems only 2 possibilities with my recently acquired Caravelle. 1. You are absolutely correct in your observation or 2) it came out on a sailing ship when the Roaring 40's weren't roaring.
Cheers

I've literally just overhauled the entire central locking on my van too. None worked, then one, then all. I took out both the front door actuators, dismantled them, unseized the springs etc (the motors both worked fine). You need to check all the contacts inside, grease it all up and then reassemble it. ONce reassembled you should be able to pull the hook up and down yourself... at first on of mine didn't and I eventually found a piece of metal contact inside was catching on the servo arm. It did take me a while, but I was lucky that all the wires worked (test the voltage of each one as relevant). The GOWESTY library or article section has a while piece on the central locking. I'm glad I fixed it as its very useful.... also replaced the front window felts and rubbers (very simple job) to ensure as little water as possible seeps down into the electrics. Good
luck. --- On Sat, 26/2/11, Roger Bell <bellrmit@yahoo.com.au> wrote: |

Roger,
I can up your VIN by 4. Mine is build date Sept 92. When I phoned TKM to see if there were any unsold Syncros I was told there were only 3 left in the country. That is two basic models and one deluxe (power steering and rear diff lock). I opted for the latter. I bought it from the Perth dealer and they had it transported over to Sydney. I was told that when TKM heard that production was about to cease they thought they would easily on sell any Syncros they had due to their popularity. Unfortunately for them they over ordered and were left with stock for about a year. Fortunate for me and you I guess. I bought mine in August 1993. Mine may not be the last sold in Oz but it certainly is one of the last manufactured. It would be interesting to know how late in the production line it was though.
Cheers,
Tom

Interesting, this explains the consecutive/close v.i.n.s. Take a look at this.
It may be possible that our cars are in the last batch of RHD cars, as it seems they made about 7,000+ more t3's after ours. Greg E

While we spent a day and a half without power ,we had to wait over a week for the water to flow and then another 2 weeks for the hot water cylinder to be made and replaced. The shaking was nuts, real nuts. It was like a bumpy rollercoaster ride. Most people who were standing were knocked to the ground as the ground moved beneath them. The houses were all airborne for a time as a lot came down and missed their foundations. I spent the next 5 days cleaning up around my property the 5 chimneys we had and a collapsed concrete stucco rear wall to the house (see photo) and a stored window fall onto my Westy, but with little damage.
Many roads around the town were impassable and are now choked with cars as the main CBD is still cordoned off. It feels good to be able to drive round in my Syncro especially when just after the roads in the eastern suburbs were submerged with 2 feet of water and sand, the result of liquefaction.

Good to hear you are all OK. One of our staff members has an old 1880s house in Littleton and he lost the chimneys as well. It is hard no doubt for most Australians to know what it would feel like for the ground beneath to be like a roller coaster.
I'm sure however the Syncro cut a good profile across the streets of Christchurch when they are in such a condition.
Regards
Mark.
