Syncro16 Registry

Ben,

No, I don't own the 16" that ran in the Australian Safari - wish that I did!!  This subject has been discussed on this list recently and I will do a search within the next few days to see what came out of it.

When I started this list, the motive was to establish a mutual support network in Australia for T3 Syncro owners.  I tried to set up a geographic list so that list members could access local support and touring members could link up with list members as they travelled.   I also tried to set up a register of Syncros in Australia but it didn't get very far either.   List members can be a bit odd at times.   With a few notable exceptions, most members seem very reluctant to disclose their names, let alone where they live.  So much for the mutual support concept.  It certainly takes the shine of the effort to set up the group and to keep it going.

If you find any 16" Syncro owners in Australia who aren't on this list, it would be appreciated if you suggest to them that they join.

Subject: Re: [Syncro_T3_Australia] New member introduction and new Syncro16 Registry

Hello Phil,

Thow have found their way to the List. One is already there and the other is still on the way from the UK heading to Perth. The first one I supposedly the one holdover from the Australian Safari. At one point last year, I Mike Plompen in Belgium who specializes is selling Syncros postulated that the owner of the Aussie Safari Syncro 16 is none other than your moderator/owner of this List. I was unable to confirm this at this time..

That is one of the reasons I came to join your group. I was hoping to locate any Syncro 16's on your continent and add them to our new Registry. To date, we have 21 Syncro 16's registered. I consider that impressive since we have only existed as a group going on 5 days.

So come out, come out, where ever you are.

Can you tell us more?

Les,

Thanks for finally putting this rumor to rest. You see the Australian Syncro 16 did not respond when Mike Plompen asked if he was you. I asked him again but did not get a response either. Then my query to you did not get answer either until now. Anyway, before this message I was beginning to think it was indeed you who was stashing this rare Syncro in some dusty garage.

Nevertheless, we have to remember that not everybody likes to get on the Internet all the time. I am waiting to hear back from out Aussie friend with his VIN for the registry. Afterall, he was the one who found the Syncro List and managed to join. Maybe he's just away on holiday. As for the fellow from Perth, I will mention this list to him in the event he has not joined yet. He is having some issues with redtape in the UK concerning the export of his 16 with the authorities there.

BTW, please excuse my seemingly cloak & dagger policy of not mentioning names of folks who have not yet given their permission to publish their names. I do have full names for many of the folks but only a first name for the Oz Safari Syncro 16. Oh yeah, I;m technically American so we haven't learned how to spell things your way. Even my spellchecker is American. =)

Cheers,

BenT

Les and Phil,

I have browsing through the archives and saw an unfamiliar name from the Syncro 16 list. teh two fellows I mentioned earlier are both already on your membership list.

This other person named Yurik in Perth appears to also own a Syncro 16. Will attempt to send him email to see if his contact info is current.

That would make two RHD Syncro 16's accounted in OZ with another coming to Perth which was LHD converted to RHD. You've discussed that 16 here so it should no surprise here once it arrives.

Cheers,

Dear Phil and les,
At the Shallow Crossing week in Jan I thought Rudi spoke of having located in Germany/Austria a 16" Caravelle which he was considering bringing into Australia. Rudi apparently doesn't follow the net/emails but perhaps Nic learned something during his recent discussions with him regarding his gas conversion as to whether anything transpired and if my recollection is correct . I thought Rudi was a great and generous source of technical information and possibly owns more T3 syncros than anyone else in Australia. I only wished he lived in Melbourne.

Jon,

You are absolutely right. You are on the Syncro 16 List. I did not mention your name because I was not sure you wanted me to until this point. I'm trying to shake the tree to see if any other 16's fall out. It looks like both you and the Australian Safari Syncro 16 are accounted for on this List. I need to contact Yurik who according to the archives belongs to this list and garages his Syncro 16 in Perth. Perhaps you might even know him personally.

Jon, please email you VIN to me so I can add it to the Syncro 16 Registry.

Cheers,

Hi Phil, Les, Roger,

Rudi is already a member of our IG16". I have here his full adress
and telephone numbers if you need them to contact him. I had him on
the phone some weeks ago, we talked about decouplers.

Hello Christoph,

Do you think we can get Rudi to get on the Syncro 16 Registry? By the way, Martin and Jörg  from IG16" joined the Registry yesterday. Thanks to you, I believe.

I now have the two RHD Syncro 16's accounted for in Australia. Yurik registered this morning; Mark a few days ago. Jon Hornby also has his converted LHD coming soon. The list now has 29 members with 23 Syncro 16's registered as of today.

BTW, to you RHD driver's I have a pair a new powersteering racks for sale. I bought them for my T25 (RHD) singlecab which I have since sold to Vic at Vanamania near Las Vegas, Nevada. Shipping is no problem. Heck, I might even drop by Oz one of the these days. I usually travel light which leaves a lot of room for "luggage". The plane fare is sometimes cheaper than freight for some stuff.

Cheers,

Ben
