T3 cargo barrier

Has anybody out there in t3 syncro land by any chance have a cargo
barrier they want to sell? I have to resort to using my syncro for
work rather than play so I'd like to stop any stray tools from
becoming potential missiles aimed at me.You can post your message on
the syncro t3 users goup site or email me directly. Also any info on
where to get a new one would be greatly appriciated. Thank you, Eddie
Bergodaz. By the way ,just got my 2.1 wbx recoed complete with hi
compression pistons & barrels and I must say I am no longer interested
in any suby, or any other type of conversion, this engine goes like a
dream.
I am interested to hear more about your high-comp. rebuild, particularly where you sourced your pistons, and at what cost.  How significant is the power increase, and any down-sides (eg, noise levels, over-heating). How is your fuel economy.

Please put up as much detail as you can muster on your engine mods.  This will be of interest to all Syncro owners.

Lucky I was just about to throw some of this stuff out.

Have a photo I can send to your email if your would like.

Cargo barrier is at Castle Hill, NSW. Don't know if it's practical
for you to pick up.

Came out of a telstra syncro. Maybe could use a door in the middle or
something but it would get you started.

:) Get in touch. Sam.

The hi comp pistons& barrels were ordered by my mechanics but I
think they came from Tooley imports in NSW.The rest of the engine is
standard.I have AMC heads which have been in there for about ten
years ,all they required were new valves and a clean up.Engine is a
little rough at idle but smoother at anything above that.Iam running
it on 98 octane fuel on mechanics advice & I guess about a 10% power
increase on original altough I belive it could put out more with a
bit of a tweak in the engine management dept.Fuel economy also seems
at this stage to have improved by about 10%.This bus is by no means
a race car but it now has the ability to climb all but the steepest
highway hills without losing speed and on the flat it feels & sounds
like its on holidays. The cost of the whole rebiuld was just under 4
grand ,the pistons & barrels I think were about $800.Hope my info
helps someone out there .Regards Eddie Bergodaz.--- In

Hi Guys,
I am sure you will find that the high compression pistons are the 'dome topped' pistons
that were factory fitted to the DJ series engines.
This series engine was quite common in Europe and produces 112hp as opposed to the 95
that the MV (and SS?) engine makes.
I may be wrong but I don't think that the DJ engine appeared in in Aus.

People in the UK run the DJ engines with normal ignition timing if using 98 octane fuel, or
back the timing off to 5 deg if using 91 octane. The engine is powered by an earlier engine
management system called Digijet whereas the later MV engines used the Digifant system.
Don't ask me what the difference is though!! :-)

These pistons are readily available in Europe. I know that Justcampers (UK) sells them -
Google justcampers to find them.

These pistons would produce a pretty handy engine if coupled with an ECU chip from Boris
at VVDS along with the high ratio rockers he recommends to be installed to make the best
of the chip, plus a free flowing air intake and exhaust.

There is a guy in the UK building wasserboxers using DJ pistons and dual carby setups for
folk who want to upgrade their 1.9 (lack of) power plants and apparently they are pretty
good too.

I am sure you could get up to 130 HP with the above, maybe more with bigger valves in
the heads. Then if you could hunt out a 2.3 (or even better a 2.5) Oettinger crank and
you'd be giving us Subie powered fellas a real run for our money!

HTHs

Cheers,

Andy
Ceduna.
If you back the timing off to run 91, all of the power increases would be lost.

DJ engines ran 98 fuel, no cat and did not have a mapped ignition.

All Australian syncros are MV Digifant engines.

You are correct Phil.
My first Syncro had a DJ engine in it with the timing at 5 degrees
and it had no more power than my MV engined bus.

Also, I think I asked you this question a few years ago but just in
case you have since found an answer - how many Syncro's
were sold in Australia and how many were to Telstra?
Thanks,
Andy.
