When I set this up many years ago, there wasn’t a lot of choice. I went with the Yahoo format and it has served us well – it is also free. It was originally an open group – anyone could join – but this proved to have a serious negative side and we accumulated some rather strange people and a very large number of totally anonymous people. Making it a closed group fixed that and we now know each and every member; they all have names and they are all contactable. We also know that every member is a genuine Syncro owner and that they are committed to the purpose of the group, which is providing a technical advice and mutual support resource. To change now would mean ditching about eight years worth of accumulated knowledge.

Yes this is one reason - 8 years of accumulated knowledge, however, the search functions in Yahoo also leave a bit to be desired in terms of pinpointing old posts. And unfortunately there is no simple (or even difficult) method of exporting Yahoo messages to another forum type :-( We'll be with Yahoo for a while yet I think.

I see your point Les, but can you not still have the info and control with a format that splits up sections ..such as engine...gearbox.....interior cars for sale etc etc so when people need advice that is specific it is easily found, also gives new people a easy start...am sure the info already gathered will be transferred by all members as we move along. I am a moderator on DSK which specific for T1’s transporters and we have very very little issues..actually cant remember the last one it was that long ago, just my two cents worth..it is easy to keep it a closed group along with requirements to enter that will deter the pests.....I think the information exchange along with photos of mechanical improvements etc etc will be some what smoother....finally I am not here to change things only suggesting what I think may be an improvement for all concerned...............but am very happy to be back ‘on’ cheers steve

It was originally an open group – anyone could join – but this proved to have a serious negative side and we accumulated some rather strange people and a very large number of totally anonymous people. Making it a closed group fixed that and we now know each and every member; they all have names and they are all contactable. We also know that every member is a genuine Syncro owner and that they are committed to the purpose of the group, which is providing a technical advice and mutual support resource. To change now would mean ditching about eight years worth of accumulated knowledge.

This is a good point. We have a lot of information but we do not have accessibility.
I will, from here on, look at collecting and collating information that comes in and see if it can be put into Files.
I would be interested to hear from anyone on the matter of collection, collation and accessibility.

there are experts on there who do nothing but T3 Syncro's full time.
There is vast and endless syncro knowledge in English-speaking north
America ..
mainly on the west coast in my perception - real experts..
super experts..
and if they won't answer your questions ...
