firstly, no probs with studs here, I used audi disks right 'round.
secondly, the stretched springs are holding, they have sagged 4 mm in 4 yrs. so all good.
thirdly I sold the Hippy Syncro ( ex Telecom and ex Nimbin ,Hippy Metropolis of Oz , where it had lived on 'grass' for 15 yrs). Sadly it started dripping coolant and right now I am replacing my 5th Christmas Tree (coolant plastic junction right hand side/front of engine).
I took it out in 17 mins, resting now, it will take the same time putting it back in. very proud with myself.!
The 'new' one is the one I salvaged from the Trakka and fixed it using JB Weld (thanks Ken). So all is good. Hartis

sure I do remember the short test drive with Paul, as much as I can remember we found the springs really good to live with...... and I might add here that I could not live with my
SEIKEL springs which I had imported from Bernd Jaeger. Maybe the DOKA is too light for this type of spring, the truck was so hard that I feared for it's integrity and for my kidneys.
I also found that on the rear springs the 3 mid - windings bound, even when the wheel was off ! They bound permanently , I could never understand this.
I am now using the original springs which Paul Mueller had stretched for me. They give me , I am guessing here, about 40 mm more height, but have the original characteristics
--in other words, no uncomfy, bumpy ride. Currently I use the truck daily twice to water a bamboo plantation ( I planted at the wrong time of the year) with 750+ ltr of water sitting over the rear axle , with -almost- no visual impact of truck's height.

The GW springs are stiffer than the Syncro.org (Schwenk) springs but are progressive wound. The GW's raise your Syncro about an inch taller. Schwenk is in the process of redesigning his springs and is in the testing phase.
If cost was not a major consideration, I would install a coilover system instead. That opens the option of variable springs rates readily available in the aftermarket. If I remember correctly, www.burleysmotorsports.com was offering a version of these (designed by Eric A.).
