Can't see any attachment Ben. Anyway as you probably know tourag rims are 130 pcd and the offset is way high. You would need adaptors that bolt on to the hub and have new studs for the wheel. This solves the studs and offset in one hit. I would not recommend though, especially on a 4wd. Greg E

(Different Ben here, Greg)

Anyway, it should he noted that car companies tend to make their products appear similar so they can be recognizable to come from the same family (manufacturer). The easiest way to do that besides the typical grill (eg. Rolls Royce) is with wheels. Wheels seem to catch the eye first. In that regard, VW uses the same wheels design in different bolt patterns and offsets to make their products appear similar and related.

In the case of the Touareg which share it's basic platform with the Porsche Cayenne, the bolt pattern is the typical 5x130mm found on most Porsches. With the Tiguan, it appears to be based on the Audi 5x112mm. VW's ownership of Audi and now Porsche can blur the lines as platforms are cross-pollinated between brands. Ever tried to use wheels from the first generation Audi TT for your Syncro? I did. Some TT wheels look identical to A4, A6, & A8 wheels. But that TT is based on the VW Mk4 platform. Bolt pattern, 5x100mm.

"Forewarned is forearmed", as they say.

I could argue that there are thousands of such adapters in use on even heavier machinery than a Syncro with no disastrous news. However, I am not an engineer and cannot argue the merits pro or con.

The adapters do add another level complication in the form of additional parts. When there are more parts, it means there are more pieces that can break. But to just assume wheel adapters make a vehicle unsafe on and off road would not be 100# accurate.

This is just for the purpose of academic discussion. As I recall, Phill has mentioned on more that one occasion, that wheel adapters are not legal in OZ.

Ahh, now i understand what Ben was saying. Yes the pattern is very similar. Greg E

Yes Greg,that sounds right.
