Tony Ricketts needs help

Trevor,

I heard from Andy Johns at Ceduna through the afternoon and Tony was expected at Andy's place tonight.  I will ring Tony tonight to get an update.  Do you know if he managed to get a set of 'O' rings to fit the injectors?  If it proves not to be the AFM harness or the AFM itself - still worth dismantling and cleaning - then there are more diagnostics available.

I had a couple of conversations with Tony this afternoon.

Unfortunately, he is stranded in Iron Knob - just about the worst
town possible - whilst not a ghost town (yet) one can't even buy fuel
there these days.
Following discussions with other people today, and some newly obvious
problems relating to his AFM, he has ordered the wiring harness to
remedy the "Vanagon Syndrome but won't get it until Thursday.
At 400kms he is too far away from me to be of any help yet.

I will speak to him about sending by bus my faulty but functioning
AFM to him in case he also ends up needing that to get mobile.

Poor guy, what a start to Syncroing!

Andy.
You do not get stranded with Vanagon Syndrome. Please read the technical information from Volkswagen.

Phil,

I don't have the time nor inclination to read this information.

5 kids aged 9 and under, a busy job plus numerous other activities and interests of no interest to this group etc etc etc plus not having a VW engine in my Syncro are all good motivations for me not to do so.

I was merely relaying to the group what Tony had said to me.

Maybe you could enlighten us less knowledgeable folk (of these symptoms) so we can achieve the desired outcome here: help get Tony mobile ASAP...........please!

Cheers,

Andy.

Andy,

The help that you have already given is appreciated.  With Tony 400 km or so from you, there is a limit.  I will try to get him on the phone again and get a description of the current situation.  Long distance diagnosis is never easy.

Vanagon syndrome will allow you to restart after a rest.

Too many myths and rumors on this forum making it hard for people.

I would be checking fuel flow first as the pump was changed. Why was the pump changed?
