tracker pop top

Does anyone know how the roof is strengthened when the b pillar is
removed does it have any metal frame between fiberglass roof insert and
origional roof
cheers Pete

The Trakka conversion, (previously discussed on this website) removes the roof bow between the B pillars and also removes the C pillar roof bow.  When Trakka introduced the camper conversion based on the T3, they claimed that their conversion was "stronger than the original roof" because they had installed a ring frame around the roof cut-out.

I own a Trakka Syncro and intend, sometime in the future, to remove the entire pop top for resealing.  When I do this, I will examine the ring frame and come to my own conclusions regarding strength.  I am an engineer at General Motors Holden and my principal function is to build prototype vehicles.  I therefore have some knowledge about body strength.  I look forward to applying my professional knowledge to what I find.

I could speculate, but this is not good engineering practise.  For the moment, I can say that I do not see any evidence of torsional weakness, but I still want to make a more detailed examination.

Ah, yes.  I tend to divide my brain between work and Syncros.

I didn't have a lot of input to the Efigy but it is arriving in my workshop next week to have some problems sorted before it goes on a world tour.  But I was the engineer ic of the SSX and the first Cross8 and all of the Adventra prototypes, plus seconded to HSV for the prototype Coupe4.  Life continues to be interesting.

The thing that interests me is the profile and style of frame etc as my local eng says as long as it stronger than orig he will ok. But don't really want to cut arch b or c without having some idear or plan . I have seen timber used in high top fit .
