trailmaster suspension kits

Hello all,long time no post.

Cannot make Valla as I need new tyres, shocks ,springs, bushes and ball joints.

Time for full suspension upgrade before Xmas.

Anyone using the Trailmaster suspension kits from Van-Cafe?They look the goods.

Ben

Campervan Culture seem to like the GoWesty springs & Fox Shocks combination.

I have only ever tired coil over original front springs with adjustable height and spacers in my rear springs all with adjustable Koni shocks. Works great for me. Not that I get out off-roading much these days - but when I do they are great.

Or Go Westy:

Shame you wont be at Valla (one quick weekend at Valla wouldn't hurt?)

Cheers,

Skot

Thanks Skot,
I will look at this suggestion in detail later.
I really like the idea of a matched spring and shock combo.
Anyone else changed springs of late?

Hi Ben,

I have recently installed the Small Cars lift springs with Old Man Emu shocks.

I didn't actually install them as I had enough trouble getting the original springs back on when I installed the old man emu shocks. Gold Coast VeeDub installed them and Jack said it was a bastard of a job. Make sure you get a wheel alignment after installation.

The springs gave me about 3cm lift on the front and 2cm on the rear. Happy so far they seem to match well and my Syncro has a better stance than before.

Looking forward to Valla

Hi Ben,

I've seen these shocks used on a tin top syncro that has a H6 Subaru motor fitted.
I think these shocks with standard springs is a good combo if you have a fairly light bus.
Front shocks are height adjustable and back ones have longer travel so use spacers
to get desired lift. Firm but good ride. Same chap has a 2.5 Subi syncro and reckons
that is the ideal motor, 3.0 is too much power.

Mark
Mark,much appreciated.

Peter, how is the ride?Do you have a Kamper?

Hi Ben, I have installed the front Trailmaster shocks only on my tin top & can say that they are slightly stiffer than stock. I had the Koni shocks on my 2wd & I liked the control that they gave me on the highway . They were quite a bit stiffer. I think that the trailmaster set up would be better for off roading as they seem to handle the bigger bumps better. I would love to try Konis on the Syncro but could not get them made as they no longer have the parts for building them. I think If I had the $ I would go for the adjustable Fox shocks from Go Westy. Eddie.
The ride is firmer than standard but not in any way jarring.

I have a pop-top with R&R full with seat but no camper fit-out. At the last weigh bridge with myself, fridge, fuel and camping kit i was at 2120kg. I don't know if that's heavy or not.

Much appreciated Eddie.

Thanks Peter.
I've just been on a scouting run up the rover trail. Fantastic fun. It still amazes me what these machines are capable of. Anyway the trail is open and fair to say every bit of the challenge of 2012 and then some. See you all friday at the lookout. Bill
