Update on Syncro Prang

Thanks to all on your advice and suggestions, however progress is being slowly made on the repairs.
The panels are being sent from Just Kampers - the wrecker bumped up the price on the front cut and the crash repairer preferred to work with new anyway.
Repairer got a headlight from a wrecker - $300!
Insurance will not cover the gearbox repairs as they have no proof of its state prior to prang - bugger!

I decided after speaking to Rudi, to send my gearbox up to him for repair. He can make it a stronger diff with 4 spider gears or convert to a locking diff or make it a slip diff - all of which are important to me as I tow a camper trailer and a heavy trailer, and he says this will shorten diff life.

One important note for all with a decoupler, is that he said you should drive with it engaged, to spread the load on the diff, particularly if you are towing - makes sense, and I have been guilty of leaving it decoupled most of the time, even though I know it helps braking too.

Quite a few brands around with all wheel drive ( Audi was one of the pioneers)
And don't forget Syncro!!  It's only us playing around with them and installing
the decoupler because we like to have an xtra knob in the dash!!
