Valla camping update

Hi all. A couple of hours ago i posted this info and it has yet to come through. Here we go again.
1. Bruce your camp site is confirmed.
2. I have booked the site next to you and will set up a large tarp and camp kitchen as it looks like rain.
3. i have reserved two other sites in this group so if anybody wants them. They are unpowered cost $25 per night and must be booked for the three nights of the show.
Cheers Bill.
Thanks Bill

See you there. Good trip to Brisbane today.

Bruce

Bill,

Yahoo is having problems again.  I have had several non-deliveries so far today, including a reply to you.

Les

Bill and All Valla Nutters,

We are booked into a cabin and also to the Saturday evening dinner. Hence, unless you are interested in that we will hopefully catch up somewhere around that.

Only a few days to go now - I wanted to take my syncro and my 71 low-light but my low-light engine is still a bare case split in two with bits everywhere. Hopefully it will be back together by Wednesday morning for an install on Wed arvo. Drive up on Friday - all going well.

See you there.

Cheers,

Scott

Mechanic is still waiting for the small end bearing gudgeons to be reamed ready for new bearings to go into the new pistons. There has been lots of waiting here and no real work.

It will be a mad rush on tomorrow arvo or Thursday morning to get this old kombi going.

At least I have one kombi which still has a VW engine.

See you there - should be loads of fun.

Cheers,

Scott

I am pleased to announce that a new Australian will be coming to Valla. He is a Syncro owner, in fact he has three at last count. Tonight he tried his first (and probably his last judging by his face) meat pie and sauce.

You may have guessed but let me end the suspense. Hartmut Kiehn became an Aussie at 4.00 this afternoon. He proudly joined his wife Elke and daughters Ann-Kathrin and Stefanie and took the pledge this afternoon in Port Macquarie. It was quite an emotional moment for all concerned. He has only been here for 39 years so it was about time I reckon. Luckily he has kept his German citizenship as well, so we can send him over there any time to get parts!!!!

I thought all Syncro owners should know about our newest Aussies.

Regards to all and to say it once again tonight - Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi,

Hope to see some of you in Valla on Saturday, Peter

Peter,

If you have a picture of the family group, I would love to see it.

Les

Peter

Congratulations to all - it almost looks like a German flag in the background, however, can assume it is the Indigineous flag.

I've unearthed another photo - see attached

Mark.

Congratulations to our new citizens who have just aquired this status by choice or having the sense to be born here. My Mum and Dad took out citizenship when they were nearly 90 after having been here almost 50 years and fortunately are still enjoying their citizenship some 7 years later. They are not ones to rush into decisions.
When I arrived at Station Pier Melbourne by boat in 1961 the authorities turned it round and sent it back to England but this time full of young Australians visiting "home" for the first time. I never worked out whether it was payback for unloading me on  Australia  or panic to get out because I had arrived. I still don't understand why I am greeted in a way that suggests I should carry my parents' marriage certificate with me to refute the traditional Australian greeting to one of English origins.
I've been to quite a few countries and have quite a few children so to all you new parents out there I reckon there isn't a better place to bring up a family and there isn't a better vehicle in which to appreciate its vastness and diversity than a Syncro camper. Australia is the richer because of the nurturing that will go into these very young citizens. I also hope they grow up with the lovely values, knowledge and attitudes of our new citizen Hart.
Cheers
Roger
